Job Title: Media Sales Lead
Job Description
- The Sales Lead will be responsible for developing and executing a sales strategy that aligns with the organization’s growth objectives.
- This role requires a strategic, data driven approach and a deep understanding of the African media landscape.
- As the leader of our sales efforts, the Sales Lead will play a crucial role in driving ecommerce sales, partnerships, overseeing subscription growth, and positioning the organization’s products and services in the market.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a robust sales strategy that aligns with the organization’s growth objectives, focusing on both digital and print subscriptions, advertising, e-commerce and partnership opportunities.
- Conduct in-depth market research to identify trends, competitor activities, and potential new revenue streams.
- Identify and secure new business opportunities, nurturing relationships with key decision-makers and clients across sectors.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients and partners, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and repeat business.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including marketing, content, and product development to create a cohesive approach to driving sales and increasing audience engagement.
- Monitor and report on sales performance metrics, using data to inform strategic decisions and optimize processes.
- Gather feedback and insights from customers to inform product development, sales strategies, and marketing initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, social sciences or a related field
- 5+ years in a sales or business development role, ideally in the media, publishing, or digital subscription industry
- Proven experience in leading sales initiatives and working cross-functionally with product, marketing, and editorial teams
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to anticipate needs and handle multiple priorities.
- Passion for African journalism and an understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in the African media landscape.
