Job Title: Financial Analyst

Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze financial date, reports, balance sheets and market information to optimize Company’s strategic goals and objectives
• Analyze Company financial performance with a view to making strategic recommendations
• Assist in the day-to-day accounting activities, including maintenance of a complete, accurate general ledger and preparing basic financial reports
• Prepare journal entries relating to amortisation, depreciation, accruals, and other information as well as ensuring that entries align with generally accepted accounting principles and company policy.
• Record information such as accruals, deferrals, and interdepartmental entries into the company’s accounting ledger and perform account analysis to ensure that entries and balances are correct. 
• Reconcile tax returns to the general ledger and prepare necessary tax entries as required.
• Ensure that company’s financial information complies with professional and regulatory standards.
• Perform financial control activities as required

Requirements

• Candidates should possess a minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
• Master’s Degree such as an MBA, finance, accounting. mathematics, business management or a related field is an added advantage.
• Professional certification such as ICAN, CFA, ACCA is compulsory
• Must have a minimum of 10 years of experience in finance, accounting, or a related field
• Strong understanding of the industry and financial operations are required.
• Must have knowledge of financial market, accounting skills, financial modelling skills
• Must have problem-solving skills and leadership skills 
• Proficiency with excel and multiple data analysis tools • Critical thinking abilities
• Proficiency with data management tools, such as Tableau, SQLite, SAP Business Objects and Power B1 
• Must be ready to work under pressure
• Must be analytical and have an eye for detail.
• Candidate for this role must have the competence capability to analyze financial data, creating financial models, and preparing reports to support informed decision-making, regarding areas like budgeting, forecasting, and evaluating investment proposals related to exploration and production.
