Job Title: Cashier

Job Summary

• The Cashier is responsible for handling all cash-related transactions in foreign and local currencies, maintaining accurate records of cash movements, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal control standards.
• The ideal candidate must be trustworthy, detail-oriented, and well-versed in BDC cash handling practices, including currency verification, record-keeping, and reconciliation.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive and disburse foreign and local currencies for approved transactions.
• Accurately count, verify, and record all cash transactions.
• Handle forex purchases and sales in line with CBN guidelines and internal policies.
• Ensure proper documentation (invoices, transaction forms, IDs, etc.) for all cash dealings.
• Maintain a daily cash register and submit transaction summaries at close of business.
• Safely manage cash holdings and secure funds in the vault or till.
• Examine foreign currencies to detect counterfeit or damaged notes.
• Use counterfeit detection tools (UV light, detectors) for all foreign currencies.
• Ensure compliance with anti-money laundering (AML) and know-your-customer (KYC) procedures.
• Immediately escalate suspicious or irregular transactions to compliance or management.
• Reconcile cash balances at the beginning and end of each day.
• Maintain accurate logs of daily transactions and cash movements.
• Assist in preparing cash flow and cash position reports for management review.
• Collaborate with internal and external auditors during audits.
• Attend to walk-in customers in a courteous and professional manner.
• Provide information on exchange rates and currency availability as directed.
• Ensure swift and secure processing of customer cash transactions.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of a BSc. Or an HND in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 2–3 years’ experience as a cashier or teller in a financial institution, preferably in a BDC or microfinance environment.
• Knowledge of Crypto, USDT, is an added advantage.
• Strong knowledge of currency handling (USD, GBP, EUR, etc.).
• Familiarity with CBN foreign exchange guidelines and AML/KYC standards.
• Excellent numeracy and attention to detail.
• High level of integrity, trustworthiness, and discretion.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel or POS/accounting tools is an advantage.

Salary
N150,000 – N250,000 monthly.
