Job Title: WASH Officer

Location: Yola, Adamawa
Employment Type: Full-time
Start date: July 2023 subject to availability of funding
Duty Station: Yola (with expected travel across areas of project implementation in Adamawa)
Duration of contract: 3 months with possibility of extension

About Malteser International: Malteser International has been working in Nigeria since 2017. In Northeast Nigeria and more specifically in Borno State, MI is currently active in the WASH sector for improving the lives of both the IDP population as well as the host communities. The WASH activities focus on improved access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene. They include NFI distribution, solarization of boreholes, rehabilitation of hand pumps, construction of latrines and hygiene promotion. Malteser International thereby applies a participatory, gender sensitive and inclusive approach.

Job Requirements

First Degree in Engineering, Geology, Geography or other WASH-related fields from a recognized/accredited Tertiary Institution in Nigeria
An advanced degree will be an added advantage
At least 3 years post NYSC relevant experience in NGO sector
Previous experience with other local and international NGOs
Training and experience in borehole and VIP latrine construction/rehabilitation
Community mobilization and advocacy experience
Computer literacy (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint)
Fluency in English and Hausa spoken and written
Ability to work in partnership with government and other NGO staff
Good interpersonal skills
Ability to work within a team setting
Independence, adaptability and flexibility with good workload management, multitasking and ability to meet tight deadlines
Excellent communication skills
