Job Title: MIS Accountant
Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full Time
Position Summary:
- The Management Information Support Accountant will be tasked with creating, maintaining, and delivering precise financial and management information to both internal and external stakeholders.
- This role includes generating monthly fund performance reports, analyzing financial results, and coordinating regular reports for management, the trustee board, regulators, and other relevant parties.
Primary Responsibilities:
Fund Performance Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual fund performance reports, comparing them against internal and external benchmarks.
- Generate and submit monthly PENCOM reports within specified timelines.
- Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis to support decision-making processes.
- Produce management information reports that offer insights into the fund’s financial performance.
Data Management:
- Maintain and update the fund and relevant benchmarks databases and systems.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of both financial and non-financial data.
- Develop and implement procedures for data collection, validation, and reporting.
Compliance and Governance:
- Ensure adherence to accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in preparing audit schedules and addressing audit queries.
- Support internal and external audit processes.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Work with various departments (e.g., investment front and back office) to gather and analyze financial information.
- Communicate financial performance and insights to senior management and stakeholders.
- Coordinate the preparation of periodic reports for management, the board, and PENCOM.
- Oversee the creation of the bi-annual pensioners’ newsletter.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements.
- Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in financial accounting and reporting within the pension fund industry.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of operational and financial policies and procedures.
Candidates Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) is required.
- At least 5 years of experience in a similar role, ideally within the pension fund industry or financial services sector.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting standards and regulations.
- Proficiency in investment management systems and MS Office, particularly Excel.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
