Job Title: Rule of Law Associate
Context
The UN Volunteer will support the work of UNODC Country Office in Nigeria to strengthen the rule of law in Nigeria including in the areas of Human trafficking and migrant smuggling, drug trafficking wildlife crime.
Task description
Working under the direct supervision of the UNODC Country Representative, He/She will specifically undertake the following tasks:
- Contribute to the overall program development, implementation and monitoring and evaluation of technical assistance in the area of rule of law, in line with the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime and its supplementing protocols, the United Nations Convention against Corruption as well as with other relevant international treaties, including the conceptualization, organization, facilita-tion of capacity building activities and interventions.
- Support the design and conduct of research activities on various topics relevant to UNODC’s mandate and the dissemination of research findings through in person and online events, the country office website and social media channels as well as in the traditional print and broadcast media
- Assist in the operationalization of UNODC strategies and frameworks such as the Strategic Vision for Nigeria 2030, the Strategic Vision for Africa 2030 and the Corpo-rate Strategy 2021-2025.
- Contribute to the implementation of strategies, programmes, projects and also pro-vide other technical assistance
- Support UNODC’s participation in the implementation, reporting and annual review of the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2023-2027 for Nigeria.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

This assignment is funded by the Government of Switzerland and therefore specific criteria apply:
- Candidates must be Swiss nationals.
- Candidates must be between 18 and 29 years of age at the time of application.
- Only candidates who have been pre-selected by Switzerland (cinfo) are eligible to apply.

Candidate must be a national of a country other than the country of assignment.

Requirements
Required experience
1 years of experience in (minimum 3 months)
- Project management and/or monitoring and evaluation
- Study/research in the areas of rule of law, access to justice and/or transnational organized crime.
Further the UN Volunteer brings/is:
- Strong interpersonal skills, including excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills, demonstrated client orientation, team and networking skills;
- Proficient use of standard software application;
- Evidence of ability to think strategically; to express ideas clearly; to work independently and in teams; sense of cultural and gender sensitivity.
- Previous experience as a volunteer and/or experience of another culture, (i.e. studies, volunteer work, internship) would be highly regarded.
