Job Title: State Program Lead

Job Description

  • The Program Officer for the Neonatal Jaundice Intervention Project will be responsible for the effective planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of project activities aimed at reducing neonatal jaundice.
  • The role involves coordination with healthcare facilities, community outreach, training of health professionals, and ensuring timely reporting and compliance with project objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of project plans, timelines, and budgets.
  • Oversee the day-to-day implementation of project activities at health facilities and in the community.
  • Ensure that project goals and objectives are met within the specified timeline.
  • Organize training sessions for healthcare providers, midwives, and community health workers on early detection and management of neonatal jaundice.
  • Collaborate with local health institutions to ensure staff are equipped with the necessary skills and tools to address neonatal jaundice.
  • Lead community outreach activities to raise awareness about neonatal jaundice, its causes, and prevention methods.
  • Engage with local leaders, families, and stakeholders to increase demand for neonatal health services.
  • Advocate for policy changes to improve neonatal health outcomes, particularly related to jaundice.
  • Monitor project activities to ensure adherence to plans and objectives.
  • Collect, analyze, and report data related to neonatal jaundice cases and intervention outcomes.
  • Contribute to the preparation of reports for donors, partners, and management on project progress and impact.
  • Build and maintain relationships with relevant stakeholders, including local health authorities, hospitals, NGOs, and international partners.
  • Work closely with healthcare providers to ensure timely referrals and treatment for affected infants.
  • Collaborate with other project teams to share best practices and lessons learned.
  • Maintain accurate records of all project activities, including training sessions, community outreach, and health outcomes.
  • Prepare and submit regular progress reports to the Project Manager and donors.
  • Ensure documentation of success stories and challenges to inform future programming.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Nursing, Health Sciences, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience in managing or coordinating health programs, preferably in maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH) or neonatal health.
  • Strong knowledge of neonatal health issues, particularly neonatal jaundice, and its management.
  • Experience in community health and healthcare provider training is an advantage.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse stakeholders, including healthcare providers, government agencies, and community groups.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and data collection tools.
