GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR APPLICANTS OF YEAR 2024 NIGERIAN AIR FORCE DIRECT SHORT SERVICE ENLISTMENT EXERCISE

Application Process is FREE OF CHARGE and no payment should be made at any point throughout the Exercise.

Online Registration starts on 14 October 2024 and closes on 26 November 2024.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR APPLICANTS

1.        Nationality: Applicants must be Nigerian citizen by origin or by birth.

2.       Age: Applicants must be between the ages of 20 and 30 years by 27 September 2025 (25 – 40 years for Medical Consultants).  Please note the following:

a.        Candidates born before 27 September 1995 are not eligible, while candidates born before 27 September 1985 are not eligible for medical consultants.

b.        The Exercise is not for serving personnel desiring Branch Commission. Therefore, personnel above 30 years of age (born before 27 September 1995) are not to apply.

 3.       Height: Applicants must not be less than 1.66m tall for males and not less than 1.63m tall for females.

 4.    Medical Fitness: Applicants must be medically, physically and psychologically fit and must meet the Nigerian Air Force medical and employment standards.

5.        Local Government Area Attestation Form: Applicants’ Local Government Area Attestation Form must be signed by a military officer from the same State as the applicants and not below the rank of Wing Commander in the Nigerian Air Force or equivalent in the Nigerian Army and Nigerian Navy or a Police Officer of the rank of Assistant Commissioner and above, or Local Government Chairman/Secretary, Magistrate and Principals of Secondary Schools attended by applicants can also sign the Attestation Form. The Local Government Area Attestation Form must be accompanied by the passport photograph and photocopy of the signees’ Drivers Licence or National ID Card or International Passport.  The signee is also to authenticate behind the applicants’ passport photograph.

6.        Presentation of Original Credentials: Successful applicants are required to submit their original credentials for scrutiny at the Selection Board Interview Exercise. The credentials include the following:

a.        Two recent passport size photographs to be stamped and countersigned by officer of appropriate rank specified in Paragraph 6.

b.        Original and photocopy of birth certificate or Declaration of Age.

c.        Original and photocopy of educational/professional Certificates.

d.        Original and photocopy of Indigeneship certificate from applicant’s Local Government/State of Origin.

e.        Original and photocopy of Attestation to Good Character signed by Officer of appropriate rank as specified in paragraph 6.

 7.        Any applicant suspected to have impersonated or submitted false document(s) shall be disqualified from the Selection Exercise. Also, any false declaration detected later may lead to withdrawal from training. Such applicants will be handed over to the Nigeria Police for prosecution. The Nigerian Air Force will not entertain any enquiries in respect of applicants whose applications have been rejected. Interested applicants are to note that the online registration is FREE OF CHARGE.  Applicants are required to fill in valid email addresses and telephone numbers in the appropriate spaces provided in the Application Form.

 8.        Application Form: On completion of the application forms, applicants must print out the underlisted documents:

a.        Acknowledgment Form.

b.        Parent/Guardians Consent Form.

c.        Local Government Area Attestation Form.

9.  Invitation for Interview: Successful applicants would be invited for Selection Board Interview Exercise through the portal, www.nafrecruitment.airforce.mil.ng. In addition to this, email and phone numbers could be used as deemed necessary.

 ACADEMIC/PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION AND REQUIREMENTS

 10.     Interested applicants must possess a minimum of Second Class Upper Division for holders of the first degree and Upper Credit for HND holders. In addition, applicants must possess credit in English Language and Mathematics and degree course of study. Computer literacy will be an added advantage.

11.      Applicants must possess NYSC Discharge Certificate or Letter of Exemption from NYSC at the time of applying for DSSC.

12.      Applicants must possess certificates of full registration with their respective statutory professional bodies in Nigeria where applicable.

13.      Requirements:       Applicants are advised to carefully read the specific disciplines required below before filling the form:

a.     Aircraft Engineering: HND/B.Eng/M.Eng/MSc Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical Electronics Engineering.

b.    Armament Technology: HND/B.Eng/BSc, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Explosive Chemistry, Chemistry (Industrial Chemistry).  

c.  Air Intelligence: BSc/HND Remote Sensing, Geographic Information System (GIS), Geography, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Science (CompTIA A+, Ethical Hacking), MSC Cyber Security, BSc/HND Psychology, Sociology, Intelligence and Security Studies, Criminology, History and International Studies, MSc Forensic Analysis, BSc/HND French Language, Chinese Language, and Arabic Language. Ability to speak multiple Nigerian Languages is an added advantage. Additional Qualification is an added advantage. 

d.        Air Traffic Services: Must have specialist’s qualification or its equivalent (BSc/BTech/HND.

(1)      Air Traffic Control. BSC/HND Physics, Chemistry, Geography, Biology, Mathematics or Air Traffic Control Licence (NCAA). Diploma in Air Traffic Control (Aerodrome & Approach)

(2)      Meteorology. BTech Meteorology, BSc/HND Geography and BSc/HND Physics.

(3)     Fire. BSc/HND (Science) or B Engr (Electrical or Mechanical Engineering). Fire Fighting/Rescue Certificate would be an added advantage.

e.    Communication, Information and Space Technology: BSc/HND Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering/Science, Telecommunications Engineering, Data Telecommunication/Networks Engineering, M.Eng/MSc/B.Eng/BTech/BSc/HND Radar Engineering, MSc/BSc/HND Information Technology/Computer Science/Computer Engineering/Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Programming, Cyber Security, Networking, Artificial Intelligence, Hardware Maintenance. BSc/BEng/PGD Satellite Communication/Satellite Ground Station Engineering, Remote Sensing, Geographic Information System (GIS), Rocketry/Astronomy/Cosmology/Space Engineering, BSc Satellite Control Engineering, HND Satellite Image Analyst, BSc Geography, BSc Geo-Physics/Physics, Mathematics. BEng/BTech/BSc/HND BSc/HND/MSc in other discipline with proven competencies in Software Development languages such as PHP, Python, C++ and MERN Stack can also apply. Possession of professional certificates such as CSDP, CSSLP, PHP Certification, CSS Zen Garden Certification, CCNA, CCNA Wireless, CCNP, CCNP Wireless, MCSE, Network+, Security+, CCNA Security, CCNP Security, CEH, ECSA, LPT, ECVP, ECSP, CPW, CPWA, CPWDV, CPWDS, CompTIA Security+, and other ICT proficiency are added advantage. i.      Administration/Personnel Services: BSc/HND Public Administration, Statistics, BSc Insurance, BSc/HND Archives & Record Management, BSc/HND Human Resources Management.

j.         Sports and Physical Education: BSc Health and Human Kinetics (Physical and Health Education).

 k.        Air Provost: BSc Sociology, Criminology, Psychology, LLB, BL, BMLS (Lab Scientist), Veterinary Doctor and BSc Cyber Security.

l.     Education: BA(Ed)/BEd/BSc(Ed)/BTech in Mathematics, English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, Geography, Building Construction, Electrical/Electronics, Agricultural Science, Hausa Language, Yoruba Language, Igbo Language, French Language, Economics, History and B.LS Library Science.

           m.       Chaplaincy: BA Theology/Divinity.

n.        Imam: BA Islamic Studies, BA Ed Arabic Studies and BA Sharia Law.

           o.        Music: BA/BEd Music.

           p.        Legal Services: LLB, BL, LLM.

q.       Public Relations: BSc/BA/HND Mass Communication, Public Relations, Journalism, Television and Film Production. Master Degree can be an added advantage.

r.        Medical Doctor and Dentist: Must possess MBBS/BDS from any NUC accredited university, registered with Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria and possesses Annual Practicing License.

s.        Medical Consultants. Must possess MBBS/BDS from any NUC accredited university, Fellowship, Registered with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria and possesses Annual Practicing License.

t.     Veterinary Doctors: Must possess DVM from any NUC accredited university, registered with Veterinary Council of Nigeria and possesses Annual Practicing License.

u.       Nurses – BNSc/MSc Nursing: Must possess BNSc and MSc (Nursing Science) from any UNC accredited university, registered with Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria and possesses Annual Practicing License. Specialization in different nursing specialties is an added advantage.

v.       Pharmacy: Must possess BPharm or PharmD from any NUC accredited university, registered with Pharmacy Council of Nigeria and possesses Annual Practicing License. 

w.      Medical Lab Science: Must possess BMLS from any NUC accredited university, registered with Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria and possesses Annual Practicing License.

x.      Physiotherapy: Must possess BSc/BMR (Physiotherapy or Medical Rehabilitation) from any NUC accredited university, registered with Medical Rehabilitation Therapist Registered Board of Nigeria and possesses Annual Practicing License.

y.      Medical Records/Health Info Management: Must possess BSc/HND in Health Info Management from any recognized training institution in Nigeria, registered with Health Record Officers Registered Board of Nigeria and possesses Annual Practicing License.

z.      Psychology: Must possess BSc in Psychology from any NUC accredited university. MSc Clinical Psychology is an added advantage.

aa.    Radiography: Must possess Bachelor of Radiography from any NUC accredited university, registered with Radiographers Registered Board of Nigeria and possesses Annual Practicing License.

ab.   Optometry: Must possess Doctor of Optometry from any NUC accredited university, registered with Optometrists & Dispensing Opticians Registered Board of Nigeria and possesses Annual Practicing License.

ac.      Dietetics/Nutrition: Must possess BSc/HND in Nutrition/Dietetics from any recognized training institution in Nigeria.

ad.     Preventive Health/Hygiene: Must possess BSc/HND in Environmental Health or Community Health from any recognized training institution in Nigeria, registered with Environmental Health Council of Nigeria or Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria and possesses Annual Practicing License.

ae.    Dental Therapy/Technology: Must possess BSc/HND in Dental Therapy/Technology from any recognized training institution in Nigeria, registered with Dental Therapists/Technologists Registration Board of Nigeria and possesses Annual Practicing License.

af.       Medical Physiology: Must possess BSc in Medical Physiology from any recognized training institution in Nigeria.

ag.   Biomedical Engineering: Must possess BEngr/BSc/HND in Biomedical Engineering from any recognized training institution in Nigeria.

ah.      Account and Budget: BSc Accounting, Banking and Finance. Must possess professional certifications in ICAN/ANAN from any recognized training institution.

ai.       Museum and Archives: BSc/BA/HND History, Archeology, Anthropology and Museum Studies or Museology.
