Job Title: General Manager, Technical Services
Activities
- Provide strategic direction for the bidding and tendering department prepare competitive bid and ensuring that bids are well packaged before submission
- Ensure alignment of all technical services with company objectives and industry best practices.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of procurement and project professionals, ensuring a high-performance culture.
- Act as a liaison between senior management and technical teams, providing regular updates on progress, risks, and opportunities.
- Oversee the entire bidding and tendering process, including the preparation of both technical and commercial documents and submission of tenders on time
- Ensure all bids are well packaged and are in compliance with regulatory standards and requirements as well as compliance with company policies.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and new opportunities to position the company advantageously in bidding processes.
- Oversee project execution from inception to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and budget.
- Develop and implement project management strategies, frameworks, and tools to enhance efficiency and accountability.
- Work closely with the Project Manager to resolve any issues, mitigate risks, and ensure compliance with all contractual obligations.
- Monitor project performance using appropriate systems and tools to track progress, performance, and financial health.
- Ensure the procurement process aligns with project timelines, cost-effectiveness, and quality standards.
- Ensure that procurement activities under the project manager are in full compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure all activities within the technical services department comply with HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) policies and industry regulations.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with technical services, including contractual, operational, and financial risks.
- Prepare regular reports for senior management on the performance of the technical services department, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and recommendations.
- Analyze financial and technical data to make informed decisions about resource allocation, cost management, and project execution.
- Any other responsibility required of the General Manager in relation to the technical and Project department.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related technical field.
- 7+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry, with at least 4 years in a senior managerial role.
- Strong understanding of bidding, tendering, and project management processes within the oil and gas sector.
- Proven track record in managing large-scale projects and technical teams.
- Knowledge of procurement processes, contract management, and supplier evaluation.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in project management tools and financial reporting systems.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Deep understanding of Nigerian oil and gas regulations and international best practices.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
