Job Title: Senior Compliance Manager

Job Brief

  • As a Senior Compliance Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our company meets all regulatory and statutory requirements while upholding the highest standards of ethical conduct.
  • In this position, you will provide expert guidance and strategic support to the Risk & Compliance department, helping to navigate complex compliance challenges and manage regulatory obligations effectively.
  • Your responsibilities will include interpreting regulatory requirements, implementing policies and procedures that align with evolving compliance landscapes, and ensuring that the company is well-positioned to meet all legal obligations.
  • This position requires a keen understanding of current regulatory trends, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining the company’s reputation.
  • Your leadership will be essential in fostering a proactive compliance environment and driving initiatives that support organizational integrity and regulatory resilience.

Job Description, Responsibilities and Duties

  • Monitor, evaluate, and report on the effectiveness of compliance policy, procedures, processes, systems, and technologies, escalating potential risks and making recommendations for improvements and implementing necessary changes.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders who have relevant subject matter expertise to stay updated on compliance regulations, best practices, and emerging trends.
  • Oversee regulatory audit and manage responses and proposed remediation.
  • Develop and present compliance reporting for senior management and the board.
  • Escalate risks and issues as appropriate and in line with regulatory reporting standards.
  • Provide strategic, well-informed guidance on compliance matters to Blooms MFB and its diverse business units and departments.
  • Develop and track various compliance monitoring metrics, key performance indicators, key risk indicators, and key control indicators to ensure consistent framework, standards, and risk tolerances are followed.  
  • Manage short-term deadlines as well as long-term strategic initiatives.
  • Liaise with Compliance counterparts regarding trends, financial crime typologies, or other issues that may warrant attention within the centralized compliance functions.
  • Assist with training of compliance staff, as required.
  • Ensure appropriate escalation of identified compliance issues to relevant stakeholders and senior management.

Requirements and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in law, business, finance, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g. DCP, CAMS, CFE, CAFCA) is a plus.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience with at least 2 years in a Managerial position with a Microfinance bank.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities to work well with internal teams, outside partners, and regulatory authorities
  • Strategic attitude with the capacity to strike a balance between Bloom MFBs corporate goals and regulatory requirements, promoting innovation while upholding a solid ethical standard. 
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate complicated regulatory concerns and create workable solutions.
  • Ability to manage regulatory audits during regulatory inspections and examinations, and providing responses to auditors.
  • A good knowledge of the extant Microfinance banking regulations.
