Job Title: Editorial Intern
Core Responsibilities (depending On Role)
- Interns will be assigned a range of tasks based on their area of interest and expertise.
Responsibilities may include:
- Assist in identifying new distribution channels (online platforms, bookstores, libraries, schools, etc.) and retail partners for book sales.
- Help track and report on sales performance, including analyzing sales data and compiling sales reports to present to the sales team.
- Respond to inquiries from customers about product availability, pricing, and promotions.
Learning & Development Opportunities:

- Networking opportunities with key figures in the publishing industry.
- Access to workshops, webinars, and other professional development resources.
- Hands-on experience in editorial, marketing, or design within the context of an international publishing house.
Educational Experience
- Applicants should have completed a Degree or qualification in a relevant field (e.g., Literature, Communications, Marketing, Design, etc.), or Demonstrate equivalent interest or experience in publishing.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Demographics: Open to applicants from African and Afro-diasporic backgrounds.
- Experience: No prior experience required. However, a strong interest in publishing or any relevant industry (literary, design, marketing, etc.) is preferred.
- Location: The programme is open to candidates based in the aforementioned cities.

Interns are expected to demonstrate the following skills and attributes:
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a particular emphasis on clarity and professionalism.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to work with accuracy and precision, particularly when reviewing texts, marketing materials, or visual content.
- Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in a remote team setting, showing initiative and contributing to collective goals.
- Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to handle shifting priorities.
- Time Management: Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines consistently, particularly when working independently.
- Technical Skills: Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or similar tools. Familiarity with design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite), content management systems, or social media platforms is a plus, depending on the internship focus.
