Job Title: PSS Facilitator (Psychosocial Support)

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate psychosocial support sessions for beneficiaries
  • Psychosocial support sessions aim to address the emotional, social, and psychological needs of beneficiaries.
  • As a facilitator, you would lead these sessions, creating a space for participants to express themselves, share their experiences, and receive support from both you and their peers.
  • Create a safe and supportive environment for sharing experiences
  • Establish an atmosphere of trust and confidentiality where beneficiaries feel comfortable opening up about their thoughts, feelings, and experiences.
  • This involves setting ground rules, demonstrating empathy, and fostering a non-judgmental environment where everyone’s experiences are valued and respected.
  • Utilize participatory methods to promote healing and resilience
  • Provide emotional support and coping strategies
  • Collaborate with other project staff to integrate PSS into project activities.

Position Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Community Development, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in counseling, social work, mental health support, or community outreach.
  • Training in Psychosocial Support PSS Facilitators should have training in psychosocial support principles, techniques, and interventions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for PSS facilitators to establish rapport with individuals or groups, facilitate discussions, and convey information effectively.

  • Fluency in English; additional fluency in Hausa and Kanuri is an advantage.
