Job Title: Chief of Party (COP)
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Serve as the direct link with USAID and other relevant stakeholders, ensuring the achievement of project results.
- Ensure the project meets its objectives, including institutional strengthening, capacity building, and market-based approaches to service delivery.
- Coordinate personnel effectiveness, make strategic decisions, and troubleshoot as needed.
- Oversee the project’s coordination and ensure its overall success.
- Provide leadership and technical backstopping, ensuring effective communication with stakeholders.
- Be responsible for technical reporting and supervision of consultancies and contracts, ensuring quality assurance.
- Uphold the organization’s core values and maintain high service delivery standards.
- Foster effective relationships with government bodies to ensure successful project delivery.
- Manage resources (both human and capital) to ensure efficient project implementation and value for money.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Advanced Degree (PhD, Master’s, or Postgraduate diploma) in Water and Sanitation, Water Resource Management, Civil, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering, or relevant fields.
- Active membership in a WASH/WRM-related professional body.
- Fluent in English (knowledge of Hausa and Kanuri is an added advantage).
- A minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in managerial and leadership roles in international donor-funded WASH projects.
- At least three (3) years’ experience in WASH projects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Experience working in North East Nigeria, particularly Borno State, is a plus.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proven track record of working with government and international agencies.
- Experience working effectively with civil society organizations, media, and government counterparts.
