Job Title: Programme Support Officer (Policy, Governance, Liaison and Support (PGLS), Abuja, Nigeria
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Education
- Master’s degree in Law, Economics, Migration Studies, Political or Social Sciences,
International Relations, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with five years - of relevant professional experience; or,
- University degree in the above fields with seven years of relevant professional experience.
Experience - Demonstrated experience in project development and project management, humanitarian and
migration-related activities, report writing and liaison; - Experience in liaison, resource mobilization, and advocacy with governmental and diplomatic
officials, national and international institutions and organizations, civil society, and private sector
actors; - Experience working in an international, inter-governmental, or non-governmental organization
and United Nations, or government; - Previous experience and knowledge of US and EU funding mechanisms is essential;
knowledge of other countries’ funding mechanisms is an asset; and, - Experience in capacity building on project development and project management cycle.
Skills - Effective resource management skills and strategic and creative thinking;
- In-depth knowledge of IOM project/programme activities and funding processes;
- Ability to establish working relationships with governmental authorities, national/international
institutions and non-governmental organizations; - Ability to effectively coordinate with a diverse team;
- Knowledge of UN, regional and bilateral donor programming;
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), organizational and prioritization skills;
- Strong analytical skills combined with the ability to prepare clear and concise reports and
communicate findings; - Strong project development and report writing skills;
- Demonstrated knowledge in IOM’s policies, practices and norms relevant to project
development; - Willingness to foster a culture of learning and knowledge management;
- Personal commitment, efficiency, flexibility, drive for results, creative thinking; and,
- Good level of computer literacy, including database applications. Microsoft Excel proficiency is
an advantage.
Languages:
- IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish. All staff members are required to be
- fluent in one of the three languages.
- For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written). Working knowledge of French
- and/or Spanish is an advantage.
