Job Title: Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning, Accountability, and Adaptation (MELAA) Associate

Project Summary

  • Rise to Inspire Africa (RIA) Initiative, in partnership with Fos Feminista and funded by the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), is implementing the Sang Pour Sang project.
  • This 18-month initiative focuses on addressing harmful social norms and fostering private-sector engagement to advance menstrual health, rights, and justice.
  • The project will be implemented in Fufore, Yola North, and Yola South LGAs of Adamawa State, targeting community and workplace transformation through advocacy, education, and collaboration.
  • RIA is seeking a passionate and qualified individual to support the successful implementation of this impactful project.
  • The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in community engagement, a strong commitment to gender equality, and the ability to drive meaningful changes at the grassroots level.

Job Overview / Summary

  • The Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning, Accountability, and Adaptation (MELAA) Associate will play a pivotal role in implementing the project’s MELAA framework.
  • This position will focus on tracking project progress, measuring impact, and integrating adaptive strategies to enhance advocacy, community engagement, and policy influence efforts.
  • The MELAA Associate will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data, as well as documenting and reporting findings to ensure the project remains evidence-based, transparent, and responsive to stakeholder needs.

  • Position Reports to: Director of Program,
  • Position directly supervises: Community Volunteers
  • Indirect Reporting: Executive Director   
  • Other Internal and/or external contacts:
  • Internal: Operations teams
  • External: Fos Feminista Colleagues, Other IPs in Adamawa and Abuja (ASVIOL, EVA), Government Ministries and Agencies, Private Sectors Players.

Major Responsibilities

  • Assist in collecting accurate and reliable quantitative and qualitative data from project activities.
  • Organize and maintain databases for project performance indicators, ensuring data is current and accessible for decision-making.
  • Support the development and deployment of monitoring tools, including surveys, checklists, and focus group discussion guides.
  • Contribute to organizing learning events, reflection workshops, and reviews to analyze progress and extract actionable lessons.
  • Collaborate with the project team to adapt strategies and activities based on findings from monitoring, evaluation, and feedback processes.
  • Document and share adaptive changes made during the project to improve outcomes and respond to emerging needs.
  • Support participatory monitoring processes, involving community members and partners in evaluating project outcomes.
  • Assist in implementing systems to collect and respond to feedback from beneficiaries and stakeholders, ensuring their voices inform project adaptations.
  • Help document advocacy activities and measure their impact, including policy changes, shifts in public discourse, and enhanced community engagement.
  • Track developments in policies and social norms relevant to the project’s objectives and provide updates to the team.
  • Prepare progress reports, incorporating visualized data (graphs, charts, infographics) to communicate effective findings to stakeholders.
  • Document case studies, lessons learned, and best practices to support internal learning and external advocacy efforts.
  • Assist in developing knowledge products for dissemination, including reports, briefs, and presentations for stakeholders and partners.

  • Continuously extracting insights from data and monitoring processes to inform project adjustments and enhance impact.
  • Ensuring data accuracy, reliability, and proper documentation to maintain the integrity of project outcomes and reporting.
  • Effectively analyzing quantitative and qualitative data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Engaging actively with the project team, stakeholders, and community members to ensure participatory monitoring and alignment with project goals.
  • Presenting findings clearly and concisely through reports, visuals, and case studies to facilitate decision-making and stakeholder engagement.
  • Remaining flexible to evolving project needs, incorporating lessons learned, and adjusting strategies to maximize impact.

Qualifications
Education:

  • Higher National Diploma (HND) or Bachelor’s Degree in Monitoring and Evaluation, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field.

Experience:

  • A Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in advocacy, community engagement, or policy-oriented projects.
  • Good knowledge of MEAL principles and tools.
  • Experience working on menstrual health or gender-focused projects will be an added advantage.
  • Familiarity with participatory monitoring and accountability approaches.

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Power BI, SQL,) and basic data analysis tools.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Key Competencies
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in data handling.
  • Basic understanding of social norms and advocacy frameworks.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new tools and processes.
  • Team-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to speak fluently in Hausa and/or Fulfude.
