Job Title: Inspection and Testing Specialist
Roles and Responsibilities
- Inspect and verify the quality, specifications, and compliance of all pipeline materials, including pipes, fittings, welds, and coatings, prior to use.
- Perform incoming material inspections and ensure proper documentation and certifications are in place for all materials delivered to site.
- Monitor construction and installation activities to ensure pipeline construction complies with design plans, industry standards, and project specifications.
- Conduct visual and non-destructive testing (NDT) including ultrasonic, radiographic, and magnetic particle inspections, and check for defects such as cracks, pinholes, corrosion, and alignment issues.
- Oversee hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure tests to assess the integrity and functionality of the pipeline.
- Ensure testing procedures are correctly followed, maintaining a safe working environment and full adherence to regulatory standards.
- Monitor and document pressure test results, addressing any discrepancies and initiating corrective actions when necessary.
- Enforce stringent quality control measures during pipeline welding, coating, and installation to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of inspections, tests, and quality assessments.
- Generate inspection reports and deliver detailed feedback to project teams and management.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, government regulations, and best practices throughout the pipeline construction process.
- Advise management on safety, environmental, and quality compliance issues and implement any corrective actions when needed.
- Work closely with project engineers, contractors, and construction teams to ensure alignment of inspection activities with project milestones.
- Assist in troubleshooting issues identified during testing and inspections, providing technical guidance and solutions.
- Perform final inspections and verifications to ensure the pipeline system is ready for handover and operations.
- Ensure thorough documentation of all inspections, test procedures, and results to satisfy project requirements and compliance standards.
- Enforce adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards on-site.
- Identify hazards related to construction processes and work with teams to minimize risks during inspections and testing procedures.
Qualifications and Requirements
- A degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- At least [8+] years of experience in inspection, testing, and quality control, preferably in pipeline construction, oil and gas, or industrial projects, with proficiency in the use of testing equipment and systems for hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure testing.
- Must be certified in the following areas of competence: ASNT Certification: Levels I, II, or III in NDT, AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or CSWIP, API 1169 or API 570, NACE CIP Level 1–3
