Job Title: Chef
Job Description
- The Chef is responsible for overseeing the kitchen operations, creating delicious and high-quality dishes, and ensuring an exceptional dining experience for guests.
- This role involves menu planning, ingredient sourcing, food preparation, and maintaining food safety standards.
- The ideal candidate combines creativity with culinary expertise, excellent leadership, and a passion for delivering top-notch meals.
Primary Responsibilities
Menu Planning and Food Preparation:
- Develop diverse and innovative menus that appeal to a broad audience.
- Prepare high-quality meals using fresh, locally sourced, and seasonal ingredients.
Kitchen Management:
- Supervise kitchen staff and coordinate food preparation to ensure timely service.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient kitchen environment.
Food Quality and Safety:
- Ensure all food is prepared according to health and safety regulations.
- Monitor food storage, handling, and hygiene to maintain the highest standards.
Cost Management:
- Control food costs by minimizing waste and managing portion sizes.
- Work with suppliers to source quality ingredients at the best prices.
Staff Training and Development:
- Train kitchen staff on cooking techniques, safety protocols, and hotel standards.
- Foster a positive and professional team environment.
Collaboration and Creativity:
- Collaborate with the hotel’s management to create seasonal promotions and special menus.
- Innovate new dishes to keep the dining experience fresh and exciting.
Requirements
- Courses / Qualification: HND / B.Sc
- Relevant Experience: 2 – 3 years experience in a similar role
- Required Age: 25-35 years
Special Skills & Key Behavioural Competencies:
- Proven experience as a Chef, preferably in a hotel or fine dining restaurant.
- Expertise in various cooking techniques and cuisines.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
- Creativity and a passion for culinary arts.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
