Job Title: Financial Accountant
Responsibilities
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare accurate financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
- Ensure timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Develop and manage budgets for the restaurant or hotel operations.
- Monitor actual performance against budgets and forecasts.
Cost Control and Analysis:
- Analyze food, beverage, and labor costs to ensure profitability.
- Identify and recommend cost-saving measures.
Revenue Management:
- Monitor and analyze revenue streams (e.g., room bookings, restaurant sales).
- Assist in developing pricing strategies to optimize revenue.
Tax Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, including VAT, corporate tax, and payroll taxes.
- Prepare and submit tax returns accurately and on time.
Accounts Payable and Receivable:
- Oversee billing, invoicing, and collections processes.
- Manage supplier payments and maintain good vendor relationships.
Internal Controls:
- Implement and maintain internal control systems to prevent fraud and errors.
- Conduct audits of financial processes and inventory management.
Collaboration with Departments:
- Work closely with kitchen, front office, and operations teams to align financial goals with operational strategies.
- Provide financial insights to support decision-making.
Cash Flow Management:
- Manage cash flow to ensure adequate liquidity for daily operations.
- Oversee bank reconciliations and petty cash management.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and industry regulations.
- Liaise with external auditors during audits.
Skills and Requirements
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional certification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CPA) is highly desirable.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, or Sage) and property management systems (PMS) used in the hotel industry.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, financial modeling).
- Strong understanding of IFRS and GAAP standards.
- Knowledge of hotel and restaurant-specific metrics (e.g., RevPAR, food cost percentage).

- Analytical Skills:
- Ability to analyze complex financial data and derive actionable insights.
- Attention to Detail:
- High accuracy in financial reporting and compliance documentation.
- Communication:
- Clear and concise communication skills to explain financial matters to non-financial stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving:
- Ability to identify financial discrepancies and propose solutions.
- Time Management:
- Capability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaboration:
- Team player with the ability to work across departments.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 – 5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in the hospitality industry.
- Familiarity with restaurant POS systems and hotel management software is a plus.
- Proven track record in managing budgets and financial reporting.
Salary
N200,000 – N250,000 Monthly.
