Job Title: Project Manager – Oil & Gas Pipeline Project

Job Summary

  • We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Project Manager to lead and manage the successful delivery of an oil and gas pipeline project.
  • As part of a specialized project management consultancy team, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the pipeline project, from initiation through to completion, ensuring the project is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of safety and quality.
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing large-scale infrastructure projects, preferably within the oil and gas sector, with excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • You will work closely with key stakeholders, including clients, contractors, vendors, and regulatory bodies, to ensure the project progresses smoothly and meets all technical, financial, and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Project Planning and Execution:

  • Lead the planning, development, and execution of the oil and gas pipeline project, including defining project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
  • Develop detailed project schedules, resource plans, and budgets.
  • Oversee procurement processes for materials, equipment, and contractors.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, contractors, regulatory authorities, and third-party vendors.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the client, ensuring regular and effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead project meetings, ensuring alignment between all parties and reporting on progress and key milestones.

Risk Management and Problem Resolution:

  • Proactively identify project risks, and develop and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Resolve issues related to project delivery, technical challenges, resource constraints, and unforeseen delays.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and ensure contingency plans are in place.

Budget and Cost Control:

  • Ensure that the project is delivered within budget by actively monitoring and controlling project costs.
  • Work closely with the finance team to track expenditure and adjust forecasts as necessary.
  • Approve project invoices and ensure that all contractual obligations are met.

Quality and Safety Assurance:

  • Ensure the project complies with all regulatory and safety standards applicable to the oil and gas industry.
  • Implement and enforce quality assurance practices and methodologies throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) guidelines and that all personnel are properly trained.

Team Leadership and Coordination:

  • Lead and manage the project team, including engineers, construction managers, contractors, and support staff.
  • Assign tasks, monitor team performance, and provide guidance and mentoring where necessary.
  • Promote a collaborative and results-driven team environment.

Reprting and Documentation:

  • Prepare and present regular project status reports, including progress updates, financial reports, risk assessments, and performance metrics to stakeholders.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including contracts, change orders, and other key documents.
  • Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure the project is meeting its goals.

Contract and Vendor Management:

  • Manage contracts with third-party vendors and subcontractors, ensuring terms and conditions are met.
  • Monitor vendor performance and ensure adherence to project timelines and specifications.
  • Ensure that the necessary permits and licenses are obtained for project execution.

Required Qualifications & Skills
Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field. A Master’s degree or PMP certification is highly desirable.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in project management, with at least 10 years in the oil and gas industry, specifically in pipeline construction and infrastructure projects.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing large, complex projects from conception to completion.
  • Experience with the full project lifecycle, including budgeting, planning, procurement, execution, and close-out.

Technical Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of pipeline design, construction, and commissioning processes.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to pipeline safety, quality, and environmental compliance.
  • Experience with project management software and tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, or similar).

Skills:

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality results.
  • Fluency in English (additional languages are a plus).

Certifications (Desirable):

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • NEBOSH or other relevant HSE certifications.
  • Specific training or certification in oil & gas pipeline engineering (e.g., ASME, API standards).

Work Environment and Conditions

  • The role may require travel to project sites and remote locations, as well as potential relocation depending on the project’s location.
  • Willingness to work extended hours when required, in line with project demands and deadlines.
  • Ability to work in outdoor, field-based environments, adhering to strict safety protocols.
