Job Title: Director, Health Services
Job Description
- The Director, Health Services is the Head of the Department of Health Services.
- He/she is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for running the affairs of the Department.
- He/she performs such other functions as prescribed by the University Schedules of Duty and other extant regulations.
Requirements
Candidates seeking to apply for the post of Director, Health Services at the University must strictly satisfy the following conditions:
- He/she must possess a good MBBS Degree or any other equivalent degree from a recognized institution, plus NYSC Discharge Certificate or evidence of exemption.
- The candidate must be proficient in the use of Information and Communication Technology.
- The candidate must also possess a professionally recognized certificate with a current practicing license. In addition, the candidate must have at least ten (10) years of relevant working experience in a senior management position, preferably in a public health institution.
- He/she must show evidence of management and leadership passion and drive in previous positions, and must possess excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills.
- He/she must exhibit the ability to be a team leader with clear mentorship skills, and should not be older than sixty (60) years.
- He/she must have strong physical and mental ability to discharge their duties.
The Tenure:
- The Director, Health Services shall hold office for a term of two (2) years.
Remuneration and Conditions of Service
- The remuneration and conditions of service for the posts shall be as prescribed by the extant laws of the University and as may be determined by the government and the Governing Council from time to time.

The application deadline is 26th March, 2025. Therefore qualified and interested candidates should Send their Application Letter (30 copies), accompanied by 30 copies of the candidate’s detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV). The CV must contain among others, the following:
- The candidate’s name in full
- Age
- Marital status
- Nationality
- Educational attainments with dates
- Number of Ph.D. candidates supervised and graduated
- Research output
- Academic and non-academic recognition
- Professional achievements
- Scholarly publications in renowned domestic and international joumals with dates, and books.(Each application should be accompanied by a certificate of birth or statutory declaration of age, and certificate of medical fitness based on documented comprehensive medical examination from a government hospital.
- A statement of the candidate’s Vision for the Sokoto State University in the 21st century of not more than 1500 words (30 copies).
- In the case of a nominated or searched candidate”, the CV must be accompanied by a letter of consent from the candidate.
- Each candidate must have three (3) referees who should be in a position to attest to the candidate’s claim to high academic standard, managerial capacity and moral uprightness.
