Job Title: Field Service Technician
Description
- The Field Service Technician will be responsible for the coordinating and monitoring the installation, testing, and maintenance of energy meters across DisCo’s franchise locations.
- The role demands a strong understanding of electrical systems, hands-on expertise with tools and testing equipment, impeccable trouble shooting skills, and a customer-focused approach to delivering high-quality service.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor Installation of energy meters in compliance with manufacturer guidelines, client requirements, safety standards, and project specifications.
- Verify proper functioning of installed meters through testing and calibration.
- Ensure seamless integration of energy meters into existing electrical systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system compatibility issues where necessary.
- Communicate effectively with customers to explain the installation process and answer queries.
- Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor at all times.
- Diagnose and rectify issues with electrical systems and energy meters on-site.
- Use appropriate tools and equipment to ensure installation accuracy.
- Interpret and apply basic installation manuals during field operations.
- Prepare and submit daily reports on completed installations using Microsoft Office tools.
- Adhere to all company policies, industry regulations, and safety protocols.
- Identify, log and mitigate potential hazards during fieldwork.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a related field.
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience in metering, electrical installations, or the power sector.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems and their integration.
- Familiarity with the operation of energy meters (preferred).
- Proficient in using tools and testing equipment for electrical installations.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Ability to interpret and follow basic installation manuals.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think on your feet.
- Strong customer relations and communication skills.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team.
