Job Title: Senior Associate, Finance and Accounting
Job Overview
- The Senior Associate, Finance and Accounting will work with the Head of Finance for Nigeria.
- This will be a role that will involve accounting, reporting as well as ensuring adherence to internal controls and statutory compliance.
- The Senior Associate, Finance and Accounting should also be someone with an interest in FP&A who is willing to learn how to work with growth models, analyse financial statements, forecast and budget.
Responsibilities
- Perform accounting functions including, but not limited to, verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions with a good understanding of GAAP and IFRS accounting standards.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports with accompanying schedules, verify the accuracy of all statements and maintain the integrity of balance sheet balances and inflow/outflow systems.
- Maintain all general ledgers and related accounts with proper documentation and records of all transactions; review entries to the general ledger to ensure accuracy and compliance with the company’s and established accounting principles.
- Assist with setting up accounting books and procedures for new countries as the business expands.
- Ensure statutory reports such as CBN-related reports and other regulatory reports are prepared and filed on time.
- Coordinate annual external audits and prepare assigned schedules for the yearly & interim audits.
Qualifications
- A finance-related degree, with ICAN/ACCA as an added advantage.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably working in the financial service industry
- Experience working with accounting software (Netsuite, QuickBooks, Oracle)
- Advanced proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel. Knowledge of tools like SQL and Power BI is an advantage.
- Self-motivated, results-focused and creative
- Methodical approach and problem-solving skills
- Able to work with tight deadlines and in a startup environment.
