Job Title: Senior Process Engineer (Vegetable Oil Refinery)
Job Summary
- The Senior Process Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of the refining process while adhering to strict Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and housekeeping standards.
- Your role is crucial in maintaining product quality, operational efficiency, and a safe working environment.
Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership: Supervise and coordinate refinery operations, including the use of fractionation towers, filters, and separators, ensuring optimal efficiency, degummed, neutralizers, bleachers, deodorizers, alkali Refining, and elimination of free fatty acids and other volatile compounds, to process Vegetable oil efficiently and meet quality standards. Provide guidance and support to operators. Conduct regular inspections.
- Process Optimization: Continuously monitor refining processes, identify areas for improvement, and implement optimization strategies to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve overall productivity.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct regular quality checks on processed oil samples, adjust processing parameters as needed, and ensure compliance with quality specifications. Implement corrective actions to maintain product quality.
- Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and calibration of refining equipment to ensure proper functionality and reliability, and Collaborate with the maintenance team to schedule preventive maintenance and troubleshoot equipment issues promptly. Keep equipment in optimal working condition to ensure uninterrupted production.
- Housekeeping and Waste Management: Enforce strict housekeeping protocols to maintain a clean, organized, and safe workplace, adhering to GMP standards. Supervise cleaning schedules, waste disposal, and sanitation procedures, ensuring compliance with the standard of operations (SOPs) and industry regulations.
- Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and industry regulations. Identify potential safety hazards and take preventive measures. Report incidents promptly and participate in safety training programs.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of production activities, equipment readings, quality control data, and maintenance tasks. Prepare reports and documentation as required by management.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless coordination and communication across departments. Provide technical guidance and support to production staff, fostering a collaborative work environment.
Key Result Areas (KRA)
The key result areas of this role are:
- Ensure the achievement of production targets.
- Delivery of high-quality Vegetable oil within specified standards and parameters.
- Optimize refinery processes to achieve higher efficiency levels, reducing processing time and zero spillage/waste.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization within the processing area.
- Ensure the reliability and availability of processing equipment through regular maintenance and timely repairs, meeting GMP equipment standards.
The Person
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Food Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in process engineering within the food processing industry, specifically in Vegetable oil processing.
- Strong understanding of Vegetable oil processing, equipment operation, and troubleshooting. Familiarity with GMP, PLC systems and panel controls is advantageous.
- Knowledge of safety protocols, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
- Ability to conduct precise quality checks, maintain accurate records, adjust processing parameters, and ensure cleanliness in the processing area, meeting GMP cleanliness standards.
- Strong analytical abilities to assess process data, identify inefficiencies, and propose effective solutions, and documentation.
- Good communication skills to coordinate with team members and report operational status effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
