Job Title: Director of Sports

Job Description

• The Director of Sports is responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction for the university’s sports programs, ensuring the development of sports facilities, and promoting sports excellence among students and staff.
• The successful candidate will oversee the management of sports facilities, including stadiums, gymnasiums, and fields, and ensure the university’s participation in local, national, and international sports competitions as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and direction for the university’s sports programs.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures for sports development.
• Oversee the management of sports facilities, including maintenance and upgrading.
• Promote sports excellence among students and staff.
• Collaborate with academic departments to integrate sports with academic programs.
• Supervise and evaluate the performance of sports staff.
• Manage the budget and resources of the sports department.

Requirements

• A minimum of a second-class lower honors degree in B.Ed (PHE) / Sports Science or a related field, plus NYSC or exemption certificate.
• A minimum of 12 years of post-qualification experience in sports management, with at least 3 years of experience in a senior management position.
• Proven experience in managing sports programs and facilities.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• ICT proficiency.

Conditions of Service

• The successful candidate will be appointed for a single term of four (4) years and entitled to the benefits and allowances approved by the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Governing Council, as the case may be.
