Job Title: Strategic Adviser
Job Summary
- Plays a pivotal in achieving the company’s strategic goals.
- The Strategic Adviser to the CEO will be responsible for providing support to the CEO, coordinating with various strategic departments and teams, tracking progress towards goals and KPIs, reporting to the Managing Director and other Executive Management as the need may arises.
- Liaising with the relevant strategic units and department to monitor their project, provide feedbacks and updates to Executive Management and driving all the strategic initiatives of Executive Management to attain timely and quality delivery.
- Reporting to top-level management, this role requires a combination of strong leadership, strategic vision, and operational expertise to ensure the efficient functioning and growth of the department or area of responsibility.
Job Description
- Serve as a key thought partner to the MD/CEO, supporting decision-making through structured insights, business analysis, and market intelligence.
- Work closely with the CEO and leadership team to develop and execute the company’s strategic plan
- Project management including tracking progress towards high-level strategic goals and KPIs
- Design and execute strategic plans and organizational initiatives in alignment with corporate goals.
- Provide expert financial modeling, forecasting, and scenario analysis to guide investment, expansion, and product development strategies.
- Liaise with departmental heads to monitor project execution, performance indicators, and operational risks across the company.
- Prepare board reports, executive summaries, business cases, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Monitor market trends, regulatory developments, and competitor activity to inform leadership decisions.
- Evaluate and improve existing business processes, identifying areas for efficiency and cost-saving.
- Support the MD/CEO in key stakeholder engagement and executive communications.
- Champion cross-functional alignment and ensure timely implementation of strategic priorities.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field (MBA or Master’s Degree preferred).
- 8 – 10 years of relevant experience, ideally with exposure to consulting, corporate strategy, or investment analysis in a financial institution.
- Proficiency in financial modeling tools (Excel, Power BI, etc.).
- Certification in Project Management, CFA, or similar will be an added advantage.
Skills / Competencies:
- Financial Expertise: Strong background in financial modeling, business planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights and long-term strategies.
- Analytical Mindset: Proficient in using data to evaluate performance and identify growth opportunities.
- Cross-Functional Knowledge: Strong understanding of credit, risk, sales, operations, HR, compliance, and collections functions in a financial services environment.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication; experience in executive reporting and stakeholder management.
- Project Management: Skilled in planning and executing strategic projects and initiatives.
- Discretion & Integrity: Ability to handle confidential information with utmost professionalism.
- Comfort working in fast-paced, high-pressure executive environments.
Special Notes:
- This role requires direct and close interaction with the MD/CEO and is best suited for individuals who are proactive, discreet, and trustworthy.
- The Strategic Advisor must have the capacity to operate at a strategic level while also executing tactically, ensuring a high level of adaptability and precision.
- Understanding of regulatory dynamics, industry trends, and performance drivers in the Nigerian financial
- services market is essential.
- The advisor must bring empathy and diplomacy to team engagements while maintaining a sharp, performance-oriented outlook.
- Success in this role could serve as a pipeline for executive leadership roles within the organization.
Salary
N15,000,000 – N20,000,000 annually.
