Job Title: Sexual and Reproductive Health Supervisor

General Objective

  • The Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) Supervisor, under the direct supervision of the Deputy Project Manager (DPM) for Primary Health Care (PHC), oversees and ensures the effective implementation of Maternal and Child Health (MCH) and SRH services, including Antenatal Care (ANC), Postnatal Care (PNC), Basic Emergency Obstetric and Neonatal Care (BEmONC), family planning, and deliveries.
  • S/he is responsible for the continuous monitoring, supervision, and coordination of midwifery care, ensuring compliance with PUI, national, and international SRH protocols and guidelines while maintaining universal hygiene standards.
  • The role guarantees 24/7 efficient and high-quality reproductive health service delivery, optimizing patient care through collaboration with the Health and Nutrition DPM, Project Manager (PM), and the Ministry of Health (MOH).
  • Additionally, the SRH Supervisor plays a critical role in emergency obstetric response, sexual violence case management, drug and equipment regulation, staff training, and performance evaluation, ensuring effective team coordination and adherence to standardized clinical procedures within PUI-supported healthcare programs.

Responsibilities and Tasks Generally
SRH (Sexual and Reproductive Health) Activities Implementation:

  • Plan, organize, and ensure the implementation of SRH activities, including ANC, PNC, family planning, deliveries, vaccinations, and laboratory services.
  • Provide technical support to SRH staff in diagnosis and case management, assisting with emergency referrals when necessary.
  • Ensure proper consultation room setup, including availability of essential equipment and consumables.
  • Conduct routine quality evaluations of midwives and midwife assistants to maintain high standards of care.
  • Monitor protocol adherence, infection prevention, and the rational use of medicines in accordance with national and international guidelines.
  • Ensure the comprehensive monitoring of newborns, referring all pregnant women and newborns to the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI).
  • Facilitate the implementation, updating, and compliance with medical protocols, ensuring proper integration between health teams and other PUI sectors (MHPSS, OPT, Nutrition, Food Security, Protection).
  • Oversee waste management and workplace hygiene, ensuring the clinic environment remains clean and safe.
  • Ensure accurate usage of administrative procedures and patient data management tools (individual patient cards, registration books, referrals, and medical reports).
  • Participate in vaccination campaigns, surveys, and additional health activities as required.

Drugs and Medical Equipment Management:

  • Ensure adequate stock levels for drugs and medical equipment in the SRH department.
  • Prepare material and drug requests in collaboration with the team, Health DPM, and OPT supervisor.
  • Monitor expiration dates of drugs and ensure proper storage, hygiene, and inventory control.
  • Oversee cleaning, decontamination, and sterilization of medical equipment per safety protocols.

Team Management:

  • Develop and oversee monthly work schedules for team members in coordination with the Health DPM and PHC In-Charge.
  • Manage staff timetables, annual leaves, and attendance tracking.
  • Ensure a well-organized team structure, optimizing staff capacity to meet PHC needs effectively.
  • Uphold PUI organizational rules, reporting any staff misconduct or operational concerns to the Health DPM.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations of SRH staff in collaboration with the Health DPM.
  • Schedule and lead team meetings, ensuring smooth communication, troubleshooting challenges, and aligning updates with the team.
  • Provide onboarding and debriefing for new PUI or MOH staff regarding PHC systems and regulations.
  • Facilitate SRH staff training, assessing learning needs, defining training objectives, and evaluating post-training knowledge improvements.
  • Ensure security protocols are followed, maintaining field officer safety through regular coordination with the security focal person.

Medical Data Collection and Reporting:

  • Supervise data collection processes, ensuring completeness and accuracy in patient records.
  • Validate medical prescriptions, ensuring they are legible, dated, and signed.
  • Track epidemiological data, medication consumption, and medical supply usage daily.
  • Collect general health and living condition data to support program assessments.
  • Maintain proper document archiving, ensuring verification sources are available as required in project proposals.
  • Work closely with the Deputy Health Program Manager, reporting observations and operational needs.
  • Ensure clear verbal and written shift handovers, highlighting key medical cases and operational concerns.
  • Report gaps, losses, theft, damages to medical equipment, and logistical challenges to the DPM/PM.
  • Stay informed of security conditions at office and clinic locations, providing updates to health program managers.

Internal and External Representation:

  • Manage staff timetable, annual leaves and attendance sheets
  • Serve as the primary liaison for PHC engagement with external partners, explaining clinic operations, challenges, and strengths.
  • Act as a focal point for collaboration with Traditional Birth Attendants (TBAs) within the community, ensuring their activities align with PUI objectives.
  • Assist in document translations and conversation interpretations when necessary.
  • Actively participate in coordination meetings, stakeholder discussions, and healthcare planning sessions.
  • Ensure training of medical teams in collaboration with DPM
  • Ensure training of the awareness team in collaboration with HPM
  • Assess the need for training
  • Assess the level of knowledge after the training
  • Ensure the security rules in the field are respected, the safety of the field officers is guaranteed, and regular communication with the security focal person is maintained
  • Regularly appraise the performance of the SRH team
  • Always remain aware of the security situation in office and clinic locations and provide feedback to the health program manager.

Salary
N613,408Monthly.
