Job Title: Internal Control Auditor (Agricultural Experience)
Job Summary
- We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Internal Control Auditor with practical farming or agribusiness experience.
- The role is responsible for evaluating and strengthening internal controls, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with internal policies, procedures, and external regulations—specifically in farming operations and agricultural supply.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct audits of farming and agricultural operations to assess the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management, and governance processes.
- Develop and implement internal control procedures tailored to agricultural production, procurement, inventory, and logistics.
- Monitor compliance with agricultural and environmental regulations, safety standards, and corporate policies.
- Analyze agricultural production data, input usage, and output efficiency to identify fraud, wastage, or non-compliance.
- Assess risks in financial and operational processes, especially related to livestock, crop production, equipment usage, and seasonal labor.
- Provide recommendations to improve efficiency, reduce risk, and ensure integrity in areas such as farm asset management, cash handling, and subsidies or grants usage.
- Work closely with farm managers, procurement officers, and finance teams to document and improve processes.
- Prepare detailed audit reports with actionable insights and present findings to senior management.
- Support training programs to raise awareness on compliance and internal controls among farm workers and operational staff.
- Participate in annual risk assessments and help develop the internal audit plan.
- 2-3 Years experience in Farm Sector
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Agriculture, Agribusiness, or a related field.
- CPA, CIA, or CISA certification preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in internal auditing or financial controls, ideally within an agricultural or farming environment.
- Working knowledge of agricultural operations (e.g., crop cycles, livestock management, equipment usage, agronomy practices).
- Familiarity with inventory and cost control in a farm or agri-processing setup.
- Strong understanding of ERP systems and accounting software (e.g., SAP, QuickBooks, or farm-specific platforms like AgLeader, Trimble, etc.).
- Excellent analytical, communication, and report writing skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Ability to work in remote or rural locations and adapt to agricultural working environments.
- Understanding of agricultural grant management, insurance, and subsidy programs.
- Data analysis and fraud detection experience, especially related to agricultural procurement and harvest outputs.
- Knowledge of environmental sustainability practices and compliance standards in agriculture.
Work Environment:
- Combination of office work and field visits to farming operations or agricultural processing facilities.
- Some travel may be required depending on the scope and location of audits.
