Job Title: Senior Consultant, Transport Management Solution (TMS)

Job Summary

• An experienced and dedicated Senior Consultant, SAP TMS to join Dangote SAP Delivery Center in India. In this critical role, you’ll be responsible for the full lifecycle management of our SAP Transportation Management (TMS) solutions, from detailed design and configuration to implementation, testing, and ongoing support.
• You will serve as a key subject matter expert, working closely with logistics, sales, and supply chain business stakeholders to translate complex transportation requirements into robust SAP TMS functionalities, optimize freight processes, reduce logistics costs, and enhance overall supply chain efficiency.
• The ideal candidate will possess deep functional expertise in SAP TMS, a proven track record of successful project participation (including S/4HANA transitions), and strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
Business Requirements Analysis & Solution Design:

• Collaborate extensively with logistics, sales, procurement, and supply chain business users to understand, analyze, and document complex transportation and freight management business requirements.
• Translate detailed business needs into comprehensive functional specifications and design robust, scalable SAP TMS solutions that align with industry best practices and internal logistics policies.
• Lead or facilitate workshops and design sessions with stakeholders to validate requirements, propose solutions, and gain consensus.

SAP TMS Configuration & Customization:

• Perform hands-on configuration and customization across a wide range of SAP TMS functionalities, including:
• Transportation Network: Locations, Zones, Transportation Lanes, Carriers, Resources (vehicles, drivers).
• Order Management: Freight Units creation, consolidation based on business rules.
• Planning & Optimization: Freight Order creation and management, Load Planning, Route Determination, Scheduling (manual and automated planning profiles).
• Carrier Selection & Tendering: RFQ processing, freight agreements, charge management (calculation sheets, rate tables, scales).
• Execution & Monitoring: Event management, tracking & tracing, delivery confirmations.
• Settlement: Freight cost calculation, charge apportionment, self-billing, accruals, integration with SAP FI/CO.
• Dangerous Goods Management (basic understanding).
• Integration with other SAP modules (ECC/S/4HANA) like SD, MM, WM, EWM, FI/CO, SuccessFactors.
• Ensure all configurations meet functional specifications, adhere to transportation logistics principles, and integrate seamlessly within the SAP ecosystem.

Project Implementation & Delivery:

• Actively lead or participate in all phases of the SAP TMS project lifecycle (e.g., Prepare, Explore, Realize, Deploy, Run), taking ownership of assigned deliverables related to transportation.
• Prepare detailed functional specifications for custom developments (RICEF objects: Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms) and collaborate closely with ABAP/CPI developers, ensuring adherence to design and quality standards.
• Oversee and support data migration activities for TMS master data (e.g., carriers, locations, transportation lanes, freight agreements).

Testing & Quality Assurance:

• Develop comprehensive test cases and scripts for SAP TMS functionalities.
• Lead and execute unit testing, support system integration testing (SIT), and facilitate user acceptance testing (UAT) to validate the functionality, accuracy, and efficiency of transportation solutions.
• Identify, analyze, and resolve complex issues, defects, and discrepancies encountered during testing phases and post-go-live.
• Training & Documentation:
  • Develop high-quality training materials and conduct expert-level training sessions for logistics, planning, and finance teams on SAP TMS functionalities and reporting.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation, including process flows, functional specifications, configuration guides, and user manuals.

Integration & Cross-Module Collaboration:

• Possess a strong and in-depth understanding of integration points between SAP TMS and other core SAP modules (e.g., SAP SD – Sales & Distribution, SAP MM – Materials Management, SAP EWM/WM – Extended Warehouse Management/Warehouse Management, SAP FI/CO – Finance & Controlling.
• Collaborate effectively with other SAP functional and technical consultants to ensure seamless end-to-end logistics processes.

Ongoing Support & Optimization:

• Provide expert Level 2/3 support for SAP TMS, troubleshooting complex transportation and system issues, and implementing timely corrective actions.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing existing processes and system usage, identifying opportunities for optimization, automation, and enhanced reporting within SAP TMS (e.g., route optimization, improved carrier performance management).
• Manage and prioritize complex change requests and incidents within your area of expertise, driving them to resolution.

Mentorship & Thought Leadership:

• Provide mentorship, guidance, and knowledge transfer to junior TMS consultants and internal support teams, fostering their professional growth.
• Stay abreast of the latest SAP developments within SAP S/4HANA Supply Chain (specifically TMS) and relevant industry trends in logistics and transportation management.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Education: Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.

Experience:

• Minimum of 8+ years of dedicated, hands-on experience as an SAP TMS Consultant.
• Proven experience participating in at least 2-3 full lifecycle SAP TMS implementation projects or significant enhancement/rollout projects.
• Deep expertise in various aspects of transportation management, including freight planning, execution, and settlement.
• Extensive hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA Transportation Management (Embedded TMS or standalone) is a strong advantage. Experience with SAP ECC LE-TRA is also valuable, but direct TMS experience is preferred.

Technical Proficiency:

• Expert-level knowledge of SAP TMS module configurations, master data, and business processes.
• Strong understanding of freight calculation, charge management, and settlement processes within TMS.
• Ability to write clear, detailed, and comprehensive functional specifications for complex custom developments (RICEF objects).
• Familiarity with integration technologies (e.g., IDocs, APIs, CPI) is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in ABAP debugging is a plus.
• Experience with reporting and analytics tools for transportation data.

• SAP TMS Certification (e.g., SAP Certified Application Associate – Transportation Management in SAP S/4HANA).
• Familiarity with other SAP SCM components like EWM, SuccessFactors, APO, or Ariba
• Experience with third-party logistics (3PL) integration scenarios.
