Job Title: Senior SAP Basis Consultant

Job Summary

• A highly skilled and experienced Senior SAP Basis Consultant to join Dangote SAP Delivery Center in India.
• This pivotal role is responsible for the overall technical architecture, installation, configuration, administration, monitoring, and optimization of our SAP landscape.
• The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in managing complex SAP environments, ensuring system stability, high availability, performance, and security across various SAP modules and technologies, including S/4HANA, ECC, and cloud integrations.

Responsibilities
SAP System Administration & Landscape Management:

• Lead the planning, installation, configuration, and maintenance of diverse SAP systems, including S/4HANA, ECC, BW, CRM, SRM, Solution Manager, and other SAP NetWeaver-based applications.
• Perform system refreshes, client copies, system copies, and landscape synchronization.
• Manage and optimize SAP system performance, including workload analysis, buffer tuning, database performance, and background job management.
• Oversee user and authorization management (PFCG, SU01, roles, profiles) and ensure compliance with security policies.
• Manage transport requests and change management processes within the SAP landscape.
• Plan and execute SAP kernel upgrades, support pack installations, and enhancement package upgrades.
• Administer SAP database systems (HANA, Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase ASE), including backups, recovery, and performance tuning.

High Availability, Disaster Recovery & Cloud Integration:

• Design, implement, and maintain high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions for critical SAP systems.
• Configure and troubleshoot SAP systems in cloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP) and manage hybrid SAP landscapes.
• Ensure seamless integration between SAP on-premise systems and cloud services/applications.

Monitoring, Troubleshooting & Incident Management:

• Implement and manage comprehensive monitoring tools (Solution Manager, native database tools) to ensure proactive identification of system issues.
• Provide expert-level troubleshooting and resolution for complex SAP Basis-related incidents and problems, often under high pressure.
• Participate in on-call rotations for critical system support, if required.

Security & Compliance:

• Implement and enforce SAP security best practices and policies.
• Manage security patches, vulnerability assessments, and audit requirements for SAP systems.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory standards ( GDPR, SOX) in the SAP environment.

Project Leadership & Consulting:

• Lead technical discussions, provide expert recommendations, and architect solutions for new SAP initiatives, upgrades, migrations (ECC to S/4HANA), and cloud transformations.
• Collaborate closely with functional consultants, developers, project managers, and business users.
• Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, installation guides, and operational procedures.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior Basis team members.

Automation & Innovation:

• Identify opportunities for automation of routine Basis tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
• Stay current with the latest SAP technologies, trends, and product roadmaps, especially in areas like SAP BTP, RISE with SAP, and intelligent technologies.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8+ years of hands-on experience as an SAP Basis Consultant in complex, enterprise-level environments.
• Extensive experience with SAP S/4HANA installations, migrations, and administration.
• Deep expertise in SAP NetWeaver administration, including ABAP and Java stacks.
• Proficiency in administering SAP HANA database, including installation, configuration, backup/recovery, and performance tuning.
• Strong experience with OS administration (Linux, Windows Server) and database administration (Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase ASE – in addition to HANA).
• Demonstrated experience in implementing and managing High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions for SAP systems.
• Proven experience with SAP upgrades, support pack stacks, and kernel upgrades.
• Expertise in SAP performance tuning and troubleshooting.
• Strong understanding of SAP security concepts and user/authorization management.
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and managing SAP systems in cloud infrastructure.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Desired Skills (Plus Points):

• Relevant SAP certifications (SAP Certified Technology Associate – SAP HANA, SAP Certified Technology Associate – SAP S/4HANA System Administration).
• Experience with SAP Solution Manager (monitoring, ChaRM, EWA).
• Familiarity with shell scripting (Bash, PowerShell) for automation.
• Knowledge of DevOps principles and automation tools (Ansible, Terraform) for SAP.
• Experience with SAP Fiori administration and troubleshooting.
• Understanding of SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) services and their integration.
• Previous consulting experience in client-facing roles.
