Job Title: University Librarian
Responsibilities
- The University Librarian is a member of the University Management, responsible to the Vice-Chancellor and the Council for the day- to-day administration and coordination of the University Library.
- The University Librarian is responsible for:
- Framing library policies.
- Making personal contacts and liaising with departments on book requirements.
- Preparing library budget.
- Engaging in matters of common interest for the benefit of readers and users.
- Performing other duties that may be assigned by the Vice-Chancellor.
Qualifications And Experience
Candidates for the position of the University Librarian shall:
- Possess a (Ph.D.) Degree in Library and Information Science.
- Have Fifteen (15) years of experience.
- have scholarly publications in reputable journals, and be member of the following:
- Library Registration Council of Nigeria.
- Nigeria Library Association.
- Be computer literate and proficient in relevant computer applications as applicable to the running of complex modern University libraries.
The Person:
- The candidate shall possess the following qualities:
- Good leadership skills.
- Excellent organizational/administrative skills.
- Personal integrity.
- Shall be of good physical and mental health.
- And should not be more than 60 years old on assumption of duty.
Tenure and Conditions Of Service
- The appointment is for a single term of five (5) years only
- Salary and other conditions of service including privileges and entitlements shall be as approved for Federal Universities by the Federal Government of Nigeria and as may be modified from time to time by competent authorities.
