Job Title: Scaffold Foreman
Job Description
- The Scaffold Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating all scaffolding activities on the project site.
- The role ensures that scaffolds are erected, modified, and dismantled safely, in compliance with project specifications, safety regulations, and industry standards.
- The Scaffold Foreman provides leadership to scaffold crews, ensuring efficient work execution while maintaining high safety standards.
Roles & Responsibilities
Supervision & Coordination:
- Lead, supervise, and allocate tasks to scaffolding crews.
- Plan daily scaffolding activities in coordination with site engineers and supervisors.
- Ensure that scaffolding work supports construction schedules and project requirements.
Scaffold Erection, Modification & Dismantling:
- Oversee the safe erection, alteration, and dismantling of all types of scaffolding.
- Ensure scaffolds are built according to design drawings, load requirements, and safety standards.
- Inspect scaffolding for stability and compliance before use.
Safety & Compliance:
- Enforce compliance with company HSE policies, regulations, and scaffolding codes of practice.
- Conduct pre-use inspections and tag scaffolds (green/yellow/red tagging system).
- Stop unsafe practices and report hazards or incidents immediately.
- Ensure that fall protection and PPE are properly used by scaffolders.
Quality Assurance:
- Verify materials and scaffolding equipment are in good condition and fit for purpose.
- Maintain proper storage and handling of scaffolding materials.
- Coordinate scaffold inspections with HSE officers and third-party inspectors.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain daily work records, scaffold inspection reports, and crew attendance.
- Provide updates on scaffolding progress, manpower requirements, and material usage.
- Ensure proper documentation for handover and acceptance of scaffolds.
Training & Crew Development:
- Guide and mentor scaffolders on safe working practices.
- Participate in toolbox talks and safety meetings.
- Identify training needs for scaffold crew members.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction, Civil, or a related field (preferred).
- 8 – 15 years scaffolding experience, with 4 – 5 years in a supervisory / foreman role.
- Certified Scaffolder / Scaffolding Supervisor (CITB, CISRS, or equivalent certification).
- Strong knowledge of international scaffolding standards (e.g., OSHA, BS EN 12811, TG20).
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to interpret scaffold drawings and load requirements.
- Excellent knowledge of scaffolding techniques and safety procedures.
- Good communication and reporting skills.
- Physically fit to work at height and in demanding site conditions.
