Job Title: Construction Onsite QA / QC Officer (Inspector)
Job Description
- To ensure that all construction activities and materials at the project site comply with approved specifications, drawings, standards, and contractual requirements.
- The QA/QC Officer will monitor quality control procedures, perform inspections, and ensure corrective actions are implemented to maintain the highest level of workmanship and safety.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Inspection & Monitoring
- Conduct daily site inspections of construction works and verify compliance with project specifications, standards, and approved drawings.
- Monitor workmanship and ensure proper use of construction methods and materials.
- Witness and verify testing of materials (concrete, steel, soil, welds, etc.).
Quality Assurance & Compliance:
- Ensure that the contractor’s works comply with ISO standards, HSE policies, and local building codes.
- Verify that quality control tests and reports are performed as per contract requirements.
- Raise non-conformance reports (NCRs) for deviations and monitor corrective/preventive actions.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, test results, and site activities.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly quality reports for submission to the Quality Manager/Project Manager.
- Ensure all QA/QC documentation is properly filed and updated.
Coordination:
- Work closely with contractors, subcontractors, and consultants to resolve quality-related issues.
- Participate in site meetings to provide updates on quality performance.
- Assist in preparing and reviewing method statements and inspection & test plans (ITPs).
Continuous Improvement:
- Recommend quality improvements to reduce rework and enhance construction efficiency.
- Support training of site staff on quality standards and inspection procedures.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- 5–10 years of experience in construction QA/QC, preferably in civil/infrastructure or oil & gas projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction standards, specifications, and building codes.
- Familiar with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
- Certification in QA/QC or construction inspection (e.g., ASQ, CSWIP, or equivalent) is an advantage.
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency in MS Office and QA/QC software tools.
- Strong teamwork and problem-solving abilities.
