Job Title: Outsourced Community Mobilizer
Main Responsibilities and Tasks
- COOPI is seeking energetic and trusted Community Mobilizers to support grassroots implementation of the project across target LGAs.
- Mobilizers will serve as the bridge between project teams and local communities, facilitating inclusive participation, VSLA group formation, peacebuilding dialogues and awareness sessions. This role is critical to ensuring community ownership, trust, and sustainability of project interventions.
Duties and Responsibilities
Community Engagement & Mobilization:
- Conduct sensitization visits and facilitate community entry processes in collaboration with local leaders.
- Mobilize women, youth, and vulnerable groups for participation in VSLA formation, training, and peacebuilding activities.
- Support the identification of beneficiaries based on agreed selection criteria, ensuring transparency and inclusion.
- Assist in organizing community meetings, awareness sessions, and training workshops.
Support to VSLA & Livelihood Activities:
- Help facilitate group formation and trust-building exercises for VSLA participants.
- Monitor group attendance and support record-keeping during savings and loan cycles.
- Assist in the distribution of start-up kits and coordination with financial institutions.
- Promote hygiene awareness and voter education during VSLA and community sessions.
Peacebuilding & Conflict Sensitivity:
- Support the formation of inclusive community peace committees.
- Facilitate dialogue sessions and conflict assessments using participatory approaches.
- Promote gender-sensitive and Do No Harm principles in all community interactions.
Monitoring & Feedback Collection:
- Collect field-level data and feedback from beneficiaries using simple tools.
- Report challenges, risks, and community concerns to the Programme Officer.
- Document success stories and promising practices for learning and visibility.

Skills and Technical Competencies:
- Trustworthy and well-respected within the community.
- Good communication and facilitation skills.
- Ability to work independently and report accurately.
- Commitment to inclusion, gender equity, and disability rights.
- Willingness to travel within assigned LGAs and work flexible hours.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- Minimum SSCE or Diploma in Community Development, Social Work, or related field.
- At least 1–2 years of experience in community mobilization or grassroots development work.
- Familiarity with local customs, languages, and community dynamics.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage diverse groups respectfully.
Desirable:
- Experience supporting VSLA groups, peacebuilding, or climate resilience projects.
- Prior engagement with NGOs or donor-funded programs.
- Ability to read and write in English and local languages.
