Description

  • We are recruiting for the position of a Chief Operating Officer to oversee its Operations, Administration, and Information Technology Units.
  • The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving results, spur growth and increase the overall efficiency of the organization.
  • S/He must have very strong leadership and strategic skills and be able to lead and direct the development and implementation of required key strategies.

Job Summary

  • The Chief Operating Officer is a member of the executive management team and is responsible for maintaining and driving operational results within the organization.
  • The COO position is second-in- command and works closely with the MD/CEO as well as other executive management team members.
  • As one of the most critical and essential positions within the organization, the COO must be a skilled communicator, effective leader and driven business person who can spur company growth, maintain key operational procedures, champion innovations and re-engineer processes.

Responsibilities

  • Drive achievement of company results from both an operational and financial perspective working closely with the MD/CEO and other Management team members.
  • Provide leadership and direction towards achievement of the bank’s strategic goals and objectives, particularly for functions supervised in line with the bank’s philosophy, mission, and vision.
  • Develop realistic plans to drive execution of the agreed strategies to a) improve existing business; and b) deliver innovative products and services.
  • Direct development and implementation of Bank- wide Operations Strategies and business process improvements to ensure alignment of the various operating functions across the Bank.
  • Partner with the CFO to achieve favorable financial results with respect to sales, profitability, cash flow, mergers and acquisitions, systems, reporting and controls.
  • Drive the achievement of efficient turnaround time and consistent optimum service delivery across the Bank by instituting the required internal infrastructures, including monitoring and reporting systems.
  • Forge strategic partnerships and relationships with clients, vendors, banks, investors, and all other professional business relationships.
  • Evaluate and streamline operating structures of the various functions supervised on an ongoing basis, where necessary.
  • Manage key functional leadership to ensure identification, deployment, and development of talents to achieve the goals of each function, and the bank.
  • Mentor, Coach and motivate to effectively execute and achieve required strategies and corporate goals.

Requirements
Education:

  • First Degree in any discipline.
  • Master’s Degree and/or relevant professional certification is also required.

Previous Work Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of 18 cognate years of experience
  • Proven experience as Chief Operating Office or relevant role with deep Banking and/or Non-Banking but related industry experience.
  • Proven experience in leading organizational redesign.
  • Experience in leveraging technology to improve efficiency and sustainable growth.
  • Demonstrable competency in strategic planning and business development.
  • Working knowledge of Digital, IT and IT Business infrastructure.
  • Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics
  • Understanding of business functions such as HR, Finance, sales, marketing etc.
  • Experience in Capital raising will be a plus.
