Job Title: Field Multimedia Communications Officer

Main Purpose

  • The Field Communications Officer (FCO) is responsible for the audio-visual productions (photos, videos, graphics) of MSF in Nigeria.
  • Under the supervision of the Field Communications Manager (FCM), he/she identifies audio-visual communication needs and contributes to the production of quality and relevant content to support the operational objectives of the organization.
  • As part of the communications team, he/she contributes to strengthening the visibility, acceptance and leverage of MSF in Nigeria.

Job Description
Content Production and Dissemination:

  • The Field Multimedia Communications Officer makes recommendations regarding the audiovisual communication tools to be used according to the objectives, messages and the target audience at national and international levels.
  • He/she produces – and/or supports the rest of the communication team members in the production of communication materials in accordance with MSF’s audiovisual quality and ethical standards (infographics, photos, videos, etc.).
  • He/she contributes to the regular publication of dynamic and engaging content on MSF’s digital platforms in Nigeria and/or regional platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, website), in close collaboration with the Digital Communications Officer.
  • He/she remains open to new technologies and trends and regularly proposes innovative and creative formats to diversify MSF’s audiovisual productions in Nigeria.
  • The Multimedia Field Communication Officer actively promotes the dissemination of content developed by MSF in the country. Under the supervision of the FCM, he/she identifies opportunities to present content about MSF’s activities in Nigeria (social networks, media, exhibitions, partnerships, etc.)
  • The Multimedia Communications Officer ensures the proper archiving of audiovisual productions made in the country to build an “institutional memory”.
  • He/she will build up a network of freelancers (photographers, videographers, editors, graphic designers etc.) that can be hired for projects if needed.

Capacity Building:

  • He/she is in charge of ensuring that MSF’s audiovisual standards, in terms of quality and ethics, are respected during all audiovisual productions in Nigeria, and actively participates in the promotion of good practices within the team.
  • He/she identifies the capacity building needs of the other members of the communications team and establishes a training plan adapted to each one (editing software, audiovisual production, etc.).
  • He/she contributes to the training of MSF field staff to enable them to collect simple audiovisual content via their smartphones.

Management and Reporting:

  • The Field Communication Officer will write regular status reports on the communication activities for which he/she is responsible, the results and the objectives for the next period.
  • He/she works under the supervision of the FCM and is supported by the communication advisers at headquarters.
  • Under the supervision of the FCM, he/she is in charge of the inventory, monitoring and, if necessary, updating of the audiovisual equipment of the communication team in Nigeria.
  • He/she will document incidents and challenges encountered during audiovisual productions and share relevant information and lessons learned with the FCC and other team members.

Requirements
Education: 
Essential:

  • Degree in Journalism, Communication, Audio-visual Production or related University Degree.

Experience: 

  • Essential: At least 4 years of professional experience in producing and editing audio-visual content according to international standards (photos, videos, graphics).
  • Essential: Experience with Nigerian (digital) media
  • Desirable: Experience in coaching and mentoring.
  • Desirable: Previous work experience with international NGOs.

Language: 

  • Proficiency in English is essential. Command of local languages is desirable.

Knowledge: 

  • Mastery of audiovisual production, directing and editing techniques
  • Proficiency in writing and AV production for traditional and social media
  • Proficiency in use of Adobe Creative Suite
  • Excellent English writing skills
  • Creativity and strong sense of initiative
  • Excellent organizational skills and autonomy
  • Flexibility, ability to manage stress and work under tight deadlines
  • Strong team spirit and ability to work in a multicultural team
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the work and principles of MSF
  • Willingness to travel, often at short notice, to MSF projects in different parts of Nigeria and willingness to work in all kinds of contexts, including unstable areas and basic housing conditions.

Gross Monthly Salary

  • According to MSF National Salary Scale.
