Job Title: Director, Works and Services
Duties
- The Director of Works is responsible to the Rector for the overall control of Works and Services Department.
- He provides strategies for the provision of efficient services in line with the Institutional goals.
- He advises the Rector on the acquisition of assets for the Polytechnic and plans the operation of plants and machinery as well as the maintenance of buildings in the constituent units of the Polytechnic.
- He is expected to prepare the Works Department budget and exercise budgetary control.
- He keeps inventory of the Polytechnic vehicles and responsible for their maintenance.
Academic Qualifications and Qualities
- A good Degree/HND from a University or Polytechnic Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Building or Architecture, from a recognized University.
- Must be registered with relevant professional bodies i.e. COREN, NSE for Civil/Structural Engineers for a minimum of 5 (five) years and similar bodies for other professions.
- Must provide evidence of sustained professional practice and for administrative leadership.
- Masters’ degree will be an added advantage.
- Must show evidence of involvement in construction and project management.
- Must have at least 17 years post qualification cognate experience.
- Must be proficient in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet short deadlines
- Must be an individual with impeccable character.
- Must not be more than 50 years of age at the time he/she assumes duty.
Terms of Appointment and Conditions of Service
- The appointment is for a term of 5 (Five) years and no more.
- The salary for the position is Consolidated while other terms and conditions of appointment are as provided by the conditions of service of the Federal Polytechnics in Nigeria and as may be determined from time to time by the Federal Government of Nigeria or the Governing Council of the Polytechnic.
- The appointee shall enjoy other benefits of office, as may be approved from time to time by the Federal Government.
