Job Title: Livelihood Coordinator
Job Summary
- The Livelihood Coordinator will play a key leadership role in the implementation of DHCBI’s livelihood interventions under the WFP-funded Resilience Program in Mafa LGA, Borno State.
- Working closely with the Project Manager, the Coordinator will oversee the planning, execution, and monitoring of activities such as cash-for-work, agricultural support, vocational training, and income-generating initiatives.
- The role involves strong coordination with stakeholders, supervision of field staff, and ensuring that all program components are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with DHCBI and donor standards.
- This position requires strong project management skills, technical expertise in livelihoods programming, and a commitment to empowering vulnerable communities through sustainable economic opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Program Coordination & Implementation:
- Coordinate communal and individual livelihood activities across the project.
- Lead implementation of Cash for Work, agriculture/infrastructure, aquaculture, and income-generating activities (IGA).
- Organize and oversee vocational skills trainings.
- Draft weekly activity plans and ensure timely implementation within the project timeframe.
- Conduct market and skills assessments to inform interventions.
- Ensure activities align with DHCBI/WFP goals, budgets, and timelines.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Work with relevant government ministries, local authorities, and community stakeholders to ensure coordination and complementarity.
- Maintain strong relationships with community leaders, youth groups, women associations, and other local actors.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting
- Supervise regular field visits to monitor project quality, timeliness, and beneficiary satisfaction.
- Ensure accurate data collection and reporting for all livelihood components.
- Develop and apply tools for beneficiary tracking and follow-up.
- Submit weekly and monthly reports to the Project Manager and donor.
- Document lessons learned, success stories, and case studies.
Staff Management:
- Directly supervise IGA Officers and field staff, providing day-to-day guidance and technical support.
- Facilitate team planning, reporting, and performance monitoring.
- Support team capacity building through coaching, training, and performance reviews.
- Ensure all staff understand and follow DHCBI and donor policies and procedures.
Logistics and Finance:
- Liaise with the Logistics team for timely procurement and delivery of materials.
- Coordinate with Finance to ensure adherence to budget, spending plans, and WFP compliance requirements.
- Prepare and submit payment requests with all required documentation.
Administrative and Other Duties:
- Ensure documentation of project reports, success stories, and lessons learned.
- Participate in relevant workshops, coordination meetings, and trainings.
- Perform any other tasks as assigned by the Project Manager.
Qualifications and Experience
- MBA / MSc / MA in Business Administration, Accounting, Entrepreneurship, Development Studies, or related field.
- Minimum of 6 years’ experience in livelihood program implementation with an NGO/INGO.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of livelihood strategies (e.g., agriculture, cash-for-work, vocational training, IGA).
- Good interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure.
- Proven team leadership and project management abilities.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken); Hausa is an added advantage.
- Demonstrated commitment to gender equality and human rights.
Technical Requirements:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Experience with field data collection tools and beneficiary tracking systems is a plus.
Personal Qualities:
- Team player, flexible, proactive, and able to work independently under minimal supervision.
- Strong ethical standards and respect for humanitarian principles.
