Job Title: Specialist, Social Behavioral Change (SBC)

JOB SUMMARY:

The Specialist Social Behavioral Change (SBC) of the CGPP Nigeria Secretariat will be based in Abuja and will provide technical support to strengthen the Secretariat and PVO/NGO partner to implement social and behavioral change strategies and activities to promote community engagement and participation in CGPP focus states. S/he will a) ensure the quality and completeness of the CGPP’s SBC program implementation; (b) ensure that CGPP SBC activities support program objectives and are consistent with global and national polio eradication and global health security strategies; (c) provide capacity building for secretariat and PVO/NGO partner staff and (d) develop behavioral change communication (BCC) materials for program activities.  S/he will work closely with the gender lead to ensure the gender aspects of SBC are carefully planned, implemented, and monitored.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•    Guide the development and implementation of the project’s social behavioral change strategic plan, ensuring that they contribute to quality, robust acute flaccid paralysis (AFP) and PZD surveillance, effective supplemental polio immunization activities, and appropriate utilization of routine immunization services.
•    Provide capacity building, supervision, and mentoring to the CGPP partners’ staff and ensure field staff at all levels receive appropriate SBC training.
•    Develop and produce SBC materials to ensure technical quality, consistency and relevancy of communications materials that are developed, produced, and disseminated to target audience within the community. 
•    Represent the interests of the CGPP and its partners in meetings at the National Polio Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC), NCDC and other donors and stakeholders, and report on those meetings to the Deputy Director. 
•    Support the development of CGPP quarterly and annual reports, success stories and other reports. In addition, develop and submit CGPP quarterly newsletter. 
•    Support in preparing concept notes and proposals for submission, ensuring compliance with donor guidelines.
•    Support project monitoring of CGPP SBC data and guide the interpretation of the analyzed data.
•    Monitor field operations of all CGPP partners SBC activities by conducting supportive supervisory visits, technical support during supplementary immunization activities (including outbreak responses) and facilitate technical working group meetings. 
•    Working closely with the gender leads to mainstream gender in all project activities.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
·    Typically, degree in Social Sciences, Behavior Change, Communications, Marketing, Public Health, or related field. Relevant work experience in lieu of degree in area is acceptable. 
·    7+ years’ experience working in public health and advocacy, capacity building or knowledge management is desirable.
·    Experience in designing, planning, and implementing SBC programming and/or community level activities, including communication campaigns and training is required.
·    Demonstrated ability to coordinate with diverse teams, national/sub-national and local government bodies, civil society organizations and community structures (e.g., schools, women’s groups, leadership councils, health committees).
·    Proven ability to set priorities, to multi-task and to work collaboratively across technical teams. 
·    Experience in computer software including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. 
·     Strong understanding of strategies and principles of integrating gender and inclusion in SBCC approaches and proven ability to promote local ownership.
·    English and Local Language
