Job Title: Food Security and Livelihood Manager
Job Description
- Community Health Justice and Peace Initiative for Development – JDPH requires the services of a Food Security and Livelihood (FSL) Manager who will oversee the activities of the Food Security and Livelihood unit of the organization.
- The Food Security and Livelihood Manager will be required to travel to communities in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states throughout the duration of the project.
- Contract Duration: 2 years
Responsibilities
- Identify, from the global, regional and national good practices, livelihood adaptation measures that can be introduced through the project.
- Participate in consultations with stakeholders.
- Build the capacity of the FSL team
- Identify geographical areas of interest to the organization according to humanitarian needs and vulnerable population context.
- Research on innovative interventions to fight hunger.
- Ensure monitoring of food security and livelihood projects (field visit, regular programme monitoring, budget forecast, staff evaluation and planning, donors reports, monthly reports, etc.).
- Ensure the preparation and writing of food security and livelihood proposals and donor reports (log frame, narrative, budget) together with the FSL team and in link with the Grant Manager.
- Support the organization in facilitation of training sessions for technical teams and assisted communities.
- Supervise and evaluate the Food security and livelihoods programme officers and subordinates.
- Closely coordinate and collaborate with other technical departments (nutrition, water and sanitation) and support departments.
- Liaising with donors, authorities, research institutes, partner organizations, NGOs, government bodies, and clusters at sub-regional/country level.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, agronomy, food security, humanitarian action or any related field.
- Minimum four (4) years of experience in a relevant position and experiences within (I) NGOs under food security and livelihood programming.
- Knowledge in Food Security and livelihood, vegetable gardening, and skills development.
- Highly skilled in project identification, design and budgeting
- Strong working knowledge (spoken, written and reading) of English.
- Excellent personal organizational skills
- Time management, and ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
- Willingness to travel to field offices and work in difficult environments according to travel requirements
- Good skills using MS Word, Excel,
- Highly skilled in report writing.
