Job Title: Project Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for carrying out the discipline Engineering and Design Tasks including but not limited to calculations, analysis, developing documents/drawings and drafting that meet the project-specific requirements, deliverables including quality (design integrity), schedule, HSE and cost.

Specifically,

  • Performs engineering computations, hand calculations and analyze equipment performance compliance with applicable Codes and Standards.
  • Review and Prepare discipline and project required documents, drawings, datasheets, reports and philosophies.
  • Vet the sub-contractor/vendor design works to ensure that design meets company’s established standards, relevant industry codes and Client DEPs etc.
  • Assist the department in the resolution of field problems and engineering issues/questions from conceptual engineering through detailed design to construction and commissioning.
  • Support the Chain Supply/Procurement Department in discussion of technical details with the Vendor and assist/participate in vendor bid enquiry preparation, vendor bid analysis and vendor selection.
  • Manage quality and consistency within the discipline across all areas through the use of related work procedures.
  • Monitor the performance of design contractors and suggest remedial actions where and when required to improve schedule or quality performance.
  • Participate in HAZOP’s and other key design reviews.
  • Participate in plant performance tests (when assigned).
  • Participate and Organizes meetings with contractors, Stakeholders, and engineers relating to plan, design data, code interpretations, and the resolution of design problems affecting equipment life and personnel safety.
  • Reviewing shop fabrication drawings and other documents for compliance with contract specification, code requirements, material specifications and design.
  • Assist document controller in maintaining updated drawings and drawing register.
  • Accept personal accountability to drive effective delivery and continuous improvement through effective influencing, appropriate challenge and support, overcoming resistance and resolving conflicts.
  • Be an example to assure HSE in design and ensure that the residual risk in design is ALARP (As Low As Reasonably Practicable).
  • Ensure that the Engineering design meets all approved COMPANY and Client standards with no compromise on both HSE and Quality aspects.
  • Proactively engage with Senior and Lead engineers regarding project expectations, project risks, value drivers and critical success factors. Maintain confidence and trust of Seniors. “Collaborate, build relationships and manage interfaces between disciplines.
  • Review and highlight major design decisions.
  • Prepare weekly progress reports and monthly reports.
  • Ensure that relevant learning and best practices from previous projects are duly considered and intelligently incorporated. Ensure that learning from current project are shared with other relevant future / ongoing projects.
  • Support the development of New Technical Professionals and other younger team members.

Requirements

  • Possess a minimum of a University Degree (B. Eng., B.Sc.) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mechanical Engineering plus any other relevant professional qualifications or certifications
  • Possess a minimum of 10 years post-graduation working experience; out of which minimum of 6 years must have been spent in engineering/construction/maintenance and with experience in commissioning and 3 years must have been spent as senior discipline engineer or project position in a reputable organization, preferably an Oil C Gas company.

Skills / Abilities:

  • Thorough understanding of mechanical engineering principles, practices, and tools.
  • Proficient in computer-assisted design (CAD) and other design, data recording, and analyzation software.
  • Thorough understanding of materials, methods, and tools involved in construction
  • Thorough understanding of safety regulations related to assigned projects.
  • Ability to identify and solve complex problems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to be both creative and analytical.
  • Extremely detail-oriented and accurate.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English (essential)
  • PC Literate in MS Windows, Excel, MS Office
  • Preferably NSE/ COREN Registered.

Salary
N1,800,000 – N2,000,000 / month.
