Madam/Sir: It is highly commendable that the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has taken the initiative to revise and launch an updated version of its 12-year-old postgraduate scholarship program, now extending the eligibility to students studying in Nigerian institutions.

This marks a significant departure from the previous approach, which exclusively catered to Nigerian students enrolled in foreign universities.

Since its establishment in 2010, the NDDC scholarship scheme has provided support to a total of 1,066 students pursuing M.Sc programs, as well as 345 students pursuing Ph.D programs. Notably, five M.Sc students graduated with distinction from Coventry University in England, while one achieved the same accolade from Aberdeen University.

These outstanding outcomes highlight the immense talent within the Niger Delta region and the positive impact of the NDDC in nurturing and developing this talent. The scholarship program has been instrumental in empowering Niger Delta citizens by enhancing their capabilities, particularly in the oil and gas sector.
