The SI Scholarship for Global Professionals is an academic award designed for full-time one- or two-year master’s studies in Sweden, covering a broad spectrum of study fields and encompassing over 700 of the 1000 English-taught master’s programs in the country.

This scholarship aims, through the Swedish Institute (SI), to cultivate a network of future global leaders who will contribute to the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and propel progress in their home countries.

Applications for this scholarship are received once per year for master’s studies commencing in the autumn semester. To be eligible, applicants must be citizens of one of the 41 countries eligible for the SI Scholarship for Global Professionals, apply for a master’s program eligible for the SI scholarship, be responsible for paying tuition fees at University Admissions, and demonstrate both work and leadership experience from current or previous employment or civil society engagement.

Scholarship Details

What’s covered The Scholarship for Global Professionals is a highly competitive, fully-funded award that encompasses the following benefits:

  1. Full coverage of tuition fees, facilitated by SI directly paying your Swedish university at the start of each semester. A monthly stipend of SEK 12,000 to support your living expenses throughout your period of study. Insurance against illness and accidents.
  2. A travel grant of SEK 15,000 (*10,000 for scholars from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine).
  3. This grant is a one-time payment and does not apply to students already residing in Sweden. Membership in the SI Network for Future Global Professionals (NFGP) – a platform designed to assist you in professional growth and networking while in Sweden.
  4. Upon completion of your scholarship, you will automatically become a member of the SI Alumni Network, providing a unique opportunity for ongoing networking and professional development.

The scholarship does not

  • Includes extra grants for family members.
  • Cover the application fee to University Admissions.
  • Permit modifications to the study program.
  • We can only assist you through the master’s program for which you are awarded.
  • Allow extensions or alterations to the awarded scholarship period.

Requirements

To qualify for SISGP, you need to:

  • Be a citizen of a country eligible for SI scholarships (see above), without the necessity of residing in that country at the time of application.
  • Apply for master’s programs that are eligible for SI scholarships, with preference given to programs in specific subject areas based on your citizenship.
  • Demonstrate relevant work experience (certain regions have specific conditions) and display leadership experience from your current or past employer or through civil society engagement.
  • Be responsible for paying tuition fees to Swedish universities, have completed the necessary steps through University Admissions, paid the application fee on time, and received admission (or conditional admission) to one of the eligible master’s programs by March 21, 2024.
  • Additionally, there are other conditions related to dual citizenship, previous residence and studies in Sweden, and more.
