Job Title: Satellite Systems Technician (UAV Production Facility)
Key Responsibilities
- Integrate satellite communication (Satcom) systems into UAVs, ensuring proper connectivity for data transmission, remote control, and real-time communications; install satellite antennas, transceivers, and other communication hardware on UAVs.
- Integrate and calibrate GPS and other satellite-based navigation systems (e.g., GNSS) into the UAV’s avionics for accurate positioning and flight control and ensureseamless communication between the UAV’s navigation systems and flight controllers.
- Conduct in-depth testing of satellite communication and GPS systems to verify signal integrity, transmission range, and real-time data communication.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to satellite communication systems, GPS malfunctions, or signal dropouts; Diagnose problems in hardware or software related to satellite systems, including antennas, transceivers, receivers, and related components
- Calibrate satellite communication systems to ensure they meet required operational standards (e.g., signal strength, data transfer rate); configure UAV systems to optimize satellite link reliability and bandwidth usage.
- Update and maintain satellite system firmware, including GPS receivers and satellite communication modules.
Skills & Qualifications
- Education: Associate’s Degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience: 2+ years of experience working with satellite communication systems, GPS, or navigation systems, ideally in aerospace, UAV, or telecommunications industries.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in integrating and configuring satellite communication and GPS navigation systems. ○ Familiarity with UAV communication protocols (e.g., telemetry, SATCOM, UHF/VHF radio systems).
- Experience with signal testing tools (e.g., spectrum analysers, signal generators) and GPS troubleshooting tools
- Understanding of GNSS and other positioning technologies used in UAVs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with satellite system testing, including signal testing and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with satellite antennas (e.g., parabolic, phased array) and their integration into UAV systems.
- Knowledge of UAV-specific flight control software or payload management systems.
- Experience working with RF systems, antennas, and other telecommunications hardware.
