At least 2,500 vulnerable persons have received Senator Tokunbo Abiru’s COVID-19 relief funds as part of measures to cushion the economic effects of the pandemic in fulfillment of campaign promises.
The beneficiaries who have been receiving direct credits from the Senator, representing Lagos East Senatorial District, since January 2021, were drawn from the 98 wards of the 16 Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas, LCDAs in the district.
Beneficiaries include people with physical disabilities, unemployed youth, widows and other vulnerable people in the senatorial district.
Abiru, whose interventions and programmes are targeted at the larger number of people in the constituency, has been impacting lives in an unprecedented manner since he got into the saddle last December.
On Monday November 2021, Abiru also organized a one-day Business Workshop for 1000 MSMEs across the Senatorial District to build the capacity of their businesses and announced a N100,000,000 (One Hundred Million Naira) Constituency Intervention revolving Loan at a 6% interest rate, which will be topped by additional 100 Million Naira from the bank of Industry. Participants were also given knowledge packs, a pack of 7 books covering subjects like Taxation, Branding and Communication, Digital Technology, Financial Management among others.

In addressing the digital skills gap, the Senator is currently setting up a Community Innovation Hub in partnership with a renowned technology company in Lagos to train youths in the senatorial district on relevant digital and innovation skills, and build the best entrepreneurs that can compete in the ever-dynamic global economy.
