Job Title: Company Lawyer
Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice and guidance on various business issues and transactions, ensuring legal protection and risk mitigation for the company.
- Participate in contract negotiations and provide legal support in the organization.
- Collaborate with external legal counsel when necessary and manage external legal resources effectively.
- Assist in the resolution of legal disputes, including preparing for legal actions and representing the company’s interests.
- Draft legal documents, including agreements, memoranda, and other legal correspondence.
- Stay updated on changes in legislation and regulations that may impact the company and provide timely advice to the management team.
- Collaborate with the HR department in developing and implementing company policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance.
- Work to address legal issues that may arise during daily operations.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold the ethical standards of the legal profession.
- Carry out any other functions deemed fit and necessary as the Company Lawyer.
Requirements
- First Degree in Law (LL.B) and admission to the Nigerian bar.
- 3+ years of cognate experience in corporate law and real estate law or related field.
- Proven experience in research, analysis, and legal advisory on fundamental business matters
- Experience in contract drafting and negotiation as well as dispute resolution,
- Strong analytical and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex legal issues to non-lawyers.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive legal matters with discretion.
- You have solid experience in Business Establishment, Contract Management, Corporate Governance & Compliance, Data Protection, Litigation, Restructuring & Insolvency, and Tax.
- Have experience working with Government Agencies and Parastatals for acquisition of Licenses.
- Ample experience drawing up and reviewing legal documentation such as contracts, NDA’s, MOU’s e.t.c.
- Good grasp of Nigeria’s Legal Environment and laws.
