Job Description

• A lawyer is a professional whoadvises clients on legal matters, represents them in court, researches relevant laws, drafts legal documents like contracts, and advocates for their rights by upholding the law and navigating complex legal issues to achieve the best possible outcome for their client;specializing in a specific area of law like criminal defense, civil litigation, corporate law, family law, or real estate law depending on their practice area.

Key Responsibilities
The Respnsibilities may include:
Legal Research and Analysis:

• Studying case law, statutes, and regulations to understand the applicable legal principles in a given situation.

Client consultation:

• Meeting with clients to understand their legal needs, explain legal options, and provide advice.

Document Drafting:

• Preparing legal documents like contracts, wills, power of attorney, divorce petitions, and court filings.

Negotiation:

• Engaging in discussions with opposing parties to reach settlements or agreements on legal matters.

Litigation:

• Representing clients in court proceedings, including presenting arguments, examining witnesses, and responding to opposing counsel.

Discovery:

• Gathering evidence through depositions, interrogatories, and requests for production of documents.

Compliance advice:

• Advising clients on legal compliance requirements related to their business operations.

Ethical Conduct:

• Adhering to professional ethical standards and rules of conduct.

Specialization areas for Lawyers may include:

• Criminal defense: Representing individuals accused of crimes
• Civil litigation: Handling lawsuits related to personal injury, contract disputes, and property damage
• Corporate law:Advising businesses on mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and compliance issues
• Family law: Representing clients in divorce, child custody, and child support matters
• Intellectual property law: Protecting clients’ intellectual property rights like patents, trademarks, and copyrights
• Real estate law: Handling legal transactions related to buying, selling, and leasing property
• Tax law: Providing advice on tax planning and compliance

Requirements

• Candidates should possess an HND / Bachelor’s Degree with 3 – 4 years work experience.

• Communication skills: Clear and concise communication both verbally and in writing to clients and the court
• Research skills: Thoroughly researching legal precedents and statutes
• Problem-solving skills: Identifying legal challenges and devising solutions
• Persuasive advocacy: Presenting compelling arguments in court or during negotiations
• Attention to detail: Ensuring accuracy in legal documents and filings.

Salary
N150,000 – N180,000 Monthly.
