Job Title: Drilling / Blasting Engineer

Job Summary

• We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Drilling/Blasting Engineer to oversee all drilling and blasting operations at our mining site in Kaduna.
• The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, executing, and optimizing blasting activities to ensure safety, efficiency, and compliance with regulatory and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and plan safe, efficient drilling and blasting patterns.
• Supervise daily drilling and blasting operations at the site.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement safety protocols for all blasting activities.
• Monitor and evaluate blast performance and initiate improvements where necessary.
• Liaise with geological and mine planning teams for accurate execution.
• Ensure strict compliance with relevant mining laws, regulations, and environmental standards.
• Manage the procurement, handling, and storage of explosives in line with regulatory standards.
• Train and guide operators and technicians on safe blasting techniques and practices.
• Prepare and submit detailed reports on drilling and blasting performance, costs, and progress.
• Troubleshoot issues arising from drilling or blasting activities promptly.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, or a related field.
• 3–7 years of proven experience in drilling and blasting within a mining environment.
• Certification in Explosives Handling or Blasting Operations (advantageous).
• Strong understanding of mining regulations and explosive safety protocols in Nigeria.
• Proficiency in blast design software and mining tools (e.g., Surpac, AutoCAD, or similar).
• Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
• Ability to work in remote and rugged terrain under minimal supervision.
