Job Title: Blaster

Job Summary

• We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Blaster to join our mining operations in Kaduna.
• The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in handling and executing controlled blasting activities in line with regulatory standards.
• This role is crucial for ensuring the efficiency and safety of extraction processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and execute blasting operations in accordance with mining schedules and safety regulations.
• Determine the quantity and type of explosives needed for each job.
• Drill blast holes and place explosives with precision.
• Ensure safe storage, transport, and handling of explosives as per legal guidelines.
• Monitor the blast area for safety compliance before and after detonation.
• Maintain accurate records of blasting operations and materials used.
• Collaborate with mine engineers, geologists, and safety officers to optimize blasting efficiency.
• Conduct post-blast inspections to assess fragmentation and wall stability.
• Identify and report any misfires or unsafe conditions immediately.
• Comply with all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.

Requirements

• Minimum of SSCE / OND in a technical field.
• Valid Blaster’s Certificate and relevant explosive handling permits.
• 3–5 years of proven experience as a Blaster in a mining or quarry environment.
• Solid understanding of blasting techniques, rock mechanics, and safety regulations.
• Strong attention to detail, risk awareness, and problem-solving skills.
• Physical fitness and the ability to work in a demanding outdoor environment.

Preferred Skills:

• Familiarity with modern blasting software and technologies.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Knowledge of Nigerian mining and explosives regulations.
