University of Nottingham Africa Undergraduate Excellence Award 2022 is a £2,000 or £7,000 tuition fees scholarship in the first year of your degree course to high-achieving international students who live in Africa.
Nottingham’s first civic college was opened in the city centre in 1881, four years after the foundation stone was laid by former Prime Minister, W E Gladstone. An anonymous benefactor had offered £10,000 for a college on condition that a suitable building be erected by the Council and that the college should be provided with £4,000 a year.

Eligibility Criteria for University of Nottingham Africa Undergraduate Excellence Award 2022
To apply for this scholarship, you must:
- be domiciled in any African country
- be classed as an ‘overseas’ student for tuition fee purposes
- hold an offer to begin any full-time undergraduate degree programme at the University of Nottingham in September 2022

You must apply for an undergraduate degree course at the University of Nottingham and receive an offer of study before you can apply for this scholarship.

Once you have received your offer, you can apply for this scholarship through the scholarships section of the NottinghamHub. Applications will close at midnight (UK time) on Friday 22 April 2022.
In your application, you will be asked about your achievements, study plans and reasons for choosing to study with us. Make sure you have enough time to prepare strong answers. We will assess your responses and academic merit when making scholarship decisions.
