Job Title: Manager, Gender Mainstreaming and Knowledge Management

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide overall technical guidance on mainstreaming of gender into all thematic program areas from HIV prevention through the continuum of care and treatment.
  • Working with colleagues, develop activities as part of the annual work planning process across thematic areas that address gender issues while ensuring that all work plan activities are gender-sensitive or transformative.
  • Facilitates knowledge building and mainstreaming of gender and HIV in related perspectives across the organization ’s programs
  • Provide technical assistance to the organization state teams
  • and health facilities to ensure provision of post-gender violence care services are in line with the CDC minimum package.
  • Provide technical support to community-based organizations on development of discussion guides, capacity assessments, trainings- to deliver orientation to individuals on gender norms as it relates to risks of HIV infection
  • Develop and maintain positive working relations with a wide network of partners, including;Government, development partners, media and CSOs.
  • Develop tools, frameworks and resources to enable better gender integration in the project.
  • Prepare communications materials that highlight the the organization ’s project gender equality programming, successes and lessons learned.
  • Develop guidelines and tools for working with the organization partners on Gender mainstreaming.
  • Provide advice on appropriate gender sensitive indicators in the performance measurement framework and support colleagues in the monitoring and reporting of program results/outputs and objectives against agreed indicators.
  • Manage the successful execution of knowledge sharing events including periodic webinars, workshops, conferences, and peer learning sessions.
  • Develop standard discussion guides and capacity assessment tools support all processes around learning and knowledge management for the organization.
  • Improve integration and facilitation of knowledge sharing both internally and where appropriate, externally.
  • Work with the communications team to ensure results are harvested and documented through monitoring and assessment.
  • Work with the communication team in the dissemination of results and good programmatic success stories.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Master’s Degree in Social Sciences, Public Health or related field
  •  At least 6 years’ post qualification work experience including at least 4 years managing a gender portfolio
  • Experience in implementing gender services in the context of HIV and knowledge of WHO, PEPFAR/CDC minimum package of services for gender-based violence survivors.
  • Demonstrated ability to ensure gender integration in project design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and management of multi-year activities, including reporting both data and narrative results of progress
  • Evidence of capacity to support implementation of gender norms re-orientation and links with HIV/ AIDS
  • Excellent conceptual, analytical, writing and oral communication and facilitation skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of knowledge management principles and capacity to deliver knowledge management and/or organizational learning activities
  • Ability to link content development and engagement strategies that facilitate timely, useful delivery of information through project learning platforms and activities.
  • Sensitivity to cultures and social systems, and genuine interest in capacity building responses to development issues
  • Ability to navigate culturally sensitive terrain and maintain constructive relationships with a diverse set of key stakeholders
